SON OF A BITCH...

I'm an idiot!

I forgot to include the materials/models/DrSatan/ for the chalkboard that's why you all are getting the frontbuffer texture and not the board texture.

I'll fix it here in a min.

I'm going to put out a _b2 in a few min so that I don't have to keep adding these patches...this one will have the board material and hopefully a fly through (if it works right).

Fantastic map. I enjoyed it very much, very TFC stylish, and the layout of the map along with the awesome textures will make people who know nothing about concjumping be able to comprehend how it works in many aspects of it. Great work.

Yeah.. great job, you did the community a great service with this!

Not sure anybody else is getting these problems, but my fps are quite low (average 50). Also, at least on jump 5, you can get stuck in endless loops of hitting the water, reappearing on the platform, getting pushed into the water with conc speeds, reappearing on the platform etc etc..

Yeah this is common in most conc maps that use teleporters.. you maintain your speed through a teleport. Some suggestions were adding a tele exit + invisible wall above player height etc.

I played through the map Satan, nice work, maybe the training map can point to this one incase ppl want to expand towards more conc training.

2 things

1) The different stages didn't have a number marked at the stage itself (only in the start room), which is sometimes confusing if you refer to them on your chalkboards.
2) The stage where you have to conc over the glass room is easily doable with one conc

this is probably going to sound really noobish but when I try to run this map I can't pick a class. All the classes are grayed out. What am I doing wrong?

ahh. I downloaded the bz2 zip and it screwed me up. I downloaded the other one and and copied all those files to the right directories and worked.

nice map btw. The chalk boards were brilliant for relaying instructions. I never thought of that. I plan on showing this to my friends to teach them conc jumping. great work!

so I've been showing your map to my friends like I said and teaching them the art of conc jumping. I've found though that the strafe section is a little on the dificult side for them. They get pretty frustrated. I was thinking that maybe the jump is a little too long for a beginner conc map. what do you think?

. They just need to try harder. That map couldn't be more beginner. If it were then you might as well be concing on a blank map. I have seen people attempting to double conc it when doesn't it say on the board use 1? 1 is more than enough power.

Great map btw. When a first timer(s) joins the server this map goes straight up.

I always have problems on the right strafe jump, but probably it's because I've got the concs to the usual G =O

Also, all new players I've seen playing this map finished it in the end - with help of vets, though.

Ah, yes, the reason why first timers struggle on strafe conc jumps. It is I imagine usually at that point they discover default keys will not do.

haha...to be honest, I actually wanted to make it a little longer, b/c I thought it might be too easy, but then trying to get everything in porportion again was going to be a bitch, so I just left it as it was.

My initial thoughts would be that they are either
A: Using default keys (as others have said)
B: still using a mouse with a ball (that can really really fuck shit up!)
C: Just aren't really patient enough to get the hang of it...

Ultimately though if they can't finish them and the really wanna get to the rest of the map, they can just tele from the tele room (ie: kill themselves and start over) and skip those two jumps.

Also paft is right...they should only be using one conc. Try to stress reading the boards as those are really helpful (or should be). I know there are like a million other more advanced ways of doing almost all the jumps, but that would defeat the purpose of teaching the basic skills.

Also while I'm hear:

Thanks Blister...um:

1) Totally never even crossed my mind! It will be a bit, but I will definitely add that in before I release a final version

2) Yeah I know...I'm hoping that a newb concer will just follow the instructions though. I originally had it so that it was impossible to do with one, but it seemed too difficult to get the 2nd one right and I wasn't really looking for perfecting the skills, but just teaching the essentialls. So I changed it to be a bit easier.

Again though thanks for all you guys' input and keep it coming...even if I'm not around a ton, I do jump on once in a while and will get around to shit when I can.
