Calling All Australianers...Australiandians...Australians?
I'm going to be faking an Australian this weekend at the bar, so if there are any key phrases I need to know or any specifics about Australia than any real Australian would know, let me know. I'm gonna spend like my entire week at work studying Russel Crowe and Nicole Kidman interviews.

Everything Crocodile Dundee has ever said can be taken as true Australian speech and mannerisms. I'm not even Australian and I know this.

Call her Sheila, no matter what her name is. Aussies love that, from what I've heard. :)

Some phrases have been missed:
"Maybe a dingo ate your baby." said by Elane with a strong Ausie accent in an early Seinfield episode: http://www.moviewavs.com/cgi-bin/tvw...eld=sdingo.wav Waltzing Matilda was mentioned in the slang website someone posted. It's an Australian folk song. Try to get a chorus of Watzing Matilda going in the bar. Some Americans know it as well. Depends on the calibur of your pub: http://www.nla.gov.au/epubs/waltzingmatilda/ I've traveled all over the world, and nothing quite compares to Australia. Beautiful country, beautiful people. I highly recomend visiting the real thing if you get the opportunity. |
