FF player server max?
Can someone please tell me that the server limit in ff is at least 32.
I personally choose and prefer servers with more people in them. In tfc I more than often played in 32 player pub servers. It was just so much more fun with allot more action going on around the map. More people in the server made more excitement and fun for me so i always chose 32 player servers over 24 player servers or less. Although 24 player servers were fine for clan matches. So now i hear that tf2 will only support 24 players max and the console versions support 16 players max in servers. This is a big blow to me and a major deterant for me playing tf2. I cant understand why team fortress is going backwards. We had 32 players in tfc now in tf2 we have 24 players max... CS goes forward from 32 player max > 64 player max in CS:S yet team fortress goes backwards 32 player max < 24 player max. I must say i am rather disappointed but really my main concern is with Fortress forever as i am hoping that it is still possible (I believe so as CS:S has 64 player servers) that fortress forever has at least 32 max players. Id personally like to see a new large OvD map created in ff to suit 64 players. The chaos and excitement would be extreme, anyway please discuss. Last edited by hoRRex; 06-08-2007 at 10:28 AM. |

I think the game is geared towards 24, not 32.

I'm pretty sure it was just that betas usually dont go passed the 24 player mark, and when the playtests do, some of the devs system or the server itself starts chugging. I'm almost positive of it being something like that.

32 players is generally over kill anyway...you end up with insane choke and can't do anything...we [Get Ready to Rumble] run a 24 player server ATM...when it gets full it's more than enough on maps like dustbowl or any large map. You won't miss the 8 extra players.

The server I play on, twisted network 24/7 dustbowl, is 30 person max what is perfect for a pub. Lots of action and if one or two of your players are just running in circles with a scout its not that bad because there is alot of players.

I don't like to be in servers bigger than 20, not a fan of the ultra chaotic 32 man servers but I see why lots of people like them.

2fort 15 a side is the best as long as you like sniper wars, bridge spam and at least 3 engies, 2 hwguys and the rest of the team as soldiers.

24 sounds great, plenty of action but the server isn't taking quite as large a load.

Why not have a large player max. Configurable per server obviously so those whom would rather a 24 man than a 32 man can do so. Personally, I think there should be a 64 max (if possible) just to allow room for those who like far too crowded games. Then again it all depends on the servers capability to support that many clients.

Well, I don't think 64 players would be viable.
First off, massive lag from all the models. 64 player models with 64 guns and a crapload of backpacks lying around. Ragdolls all over the place and various rocket/grenade models flying all over the place. I remember that some Devs said that even 10 players on dustbowl on screen at once caused lag. |
