Seasoned half life mappers shouldnt have an issue with this, esp ones with mod experance.

The hardest part about mapping, visualy, is making an area look beautiful and detailed... with hardly any brushwork.

TFC & CS did a GREAT job at this (in their day), and the same has to be done in CSS/FF

Detail just for detail's sake is a waste, but detail that adds to the overall feel isnt. I mean, a broken down car on the bridge in 2fort is going to make the map feel small and cluttered. Where that same car to the side of a front fortress ramp wouldnt as much. Same object, diffrent placement. Needed? who knows... depends on the theme.

People play the game at frist, because of its beauty. Then 30mins in, its all about gameply.

The map can be totaly dog ugly (surf maps, scouts n knives, sniper maps) and be massivly popular, instantly. Gameplay is key!

Seasond mappers will ballance this out.

The hard thing is for me, with a p4 3.73EE, 2GB DDR2 4200 duel channel and a BFG_7800GTX-OC... lol, I can run the whole map without VIS and it still holds 60fps...
