I use the default TFC setup. Not a thing changed.
Thumb=Space=Jump. Pointer: D=Strafe Right F=Primary grenade (2 tap) G=Secondary grenade (2 tap) E=Use R=Reload X=Drop bag C=Toss flag Middle: W=Forward S=Backward Ring: A=Strafe left Pinky: CTRL=Duck Shift=Walk (I use this when I play spy) I have yet to assign my mouse 3. I'm thinking on making it my script key, depending on what I'm playing. Defense: "Inc from my position." Offense: "Tossing the flag." Etc. |

I'm still struggling with a good FF setup and need to implent some binds (calling a med + typing 'i'm sick' and stuff like that)
Now I used to play TFC with the arrouw keys, until someone told me about WASD (or ZQSD on an azerty, EUROPE FTW!) Ah I remember playing on "fun servers" with those hide and seek maps and climb maps and stuff, we used to make all sorts of crazy binds like bind the flashlight to the backspace so you would get a strobo effect or bind "Hi there, %i, I see you!" (%i being the name of the last seen player, or was it %s... hm whatever). Man that was fun, I was an ace in hiding in those maps, and searching too! Man I wish those maps would be ported to FF, now THAT would be fun! |

I used to use the arrow keys with my arms crossed and I used other keys by WSAD to aim, can't really remember how I had that set up exactly but it wasnt efficient. I've been using WSAD now for serveral years and imo they are way better that arrows.

up until recently (like a month before FF) I played with the Key Pad...
8 = up 4 = left 6 = right 2 = down 7 = secondary nade 9 = primary / = toss / discard enter = duck 3 = quickweapon del = use And i had cfg's customized for all of my dif. classes, but yeah that was the best. Worked extremely well and you had spacing between all of the keys which was nice. The only reason I swtiched was b/c i ran out of keys...I started enting a lot on a friends server and no matter how customized my menu.cfg was it just started to get overwhelming so I trained myself on wasd! |

I've noticed that many of you don't label your jump keys. What gives?

I'm a left hander, so I use my left hand on the mouse.
This means I have problems with WASD cos its my right hand on the keyboard. Long story short, the arrow keys are dead comfortable for me - so that's what I use |

I dont like WSAD or similar cos i always hit "wrong" buttons (no i have no thick fingers :P).
I play with arrowkeys for 8 years now.. and i cant use every keyboard, i need a special layout for these binds: Code:
//movement UPARROW "+forward" DOWNARROW "+back" LEFTARROW "+moveleft" RIGHTARROW "+moveright" MOUSE2 "+jump" CTRL "+duck" SHIFT "+speed" MOUSE4 "dropflag" MOUSE5 "discard" //attack MOUSE1 "+attack" MOUSE3 "+attack2" MWHEELDOWN "slot3" //quickweapon - depends on class MWHEELUP "slot1" //quickweapon - depends on class DEL "toggleone" END "toggletwo" KP_END "throwgren" // I release both nadetypes with this button. And I use KP_HOME, KP_UPARROW and KP_PGUP for classspecific binds like Engy: Build disp/sg Demo: set detpack 5/20/50 etc :D //misc ENTER "+use" m "changeclass" n "changeteam" q "saveme" w "engyme" y "say" |

wow looks like I need to get a camera to show what keys I use because I can garuntee, it's very odd.
I use my arrow keys for movement, but only my index finger for up/down. I use my thumb for left/right strafe. Other weird hand/keys: Delete: Jump \: Duck Gren1: Backspace Gren2: = End: Use Pg Down: Reload Insert: Walk Mousewheelup/down: lastinv Mouse 4(left side): discard/stopsound Mouse 3(pushing scroll wheel): Voice comm Mouse 5(right side): drop flag That's about it for the weird keys lol. Something even weirder, I don't have my spacebar bound to anything, and I've been using this config for over 8 years now since I originally started playing TFC. |
