I hadn't even heard of this two-space nonsense before this thread. So, clearly, no one gives a fuck. If you've ever had a teacher who'd bust out the ruler to check your spaces, then the class must've been bullshit anyway.

I'm just interested. I seem to be the only person in a class group who does it. I just want to make sure I wasn't accidentally cheating!

However I'm so anal about formatting I type with the formatting symbols on. And yes, people can't read what I'm typing when I use that. I started doing it as a kid using some old mac hardware and have been doing it ever since. Formatting symbols are a gift to us who are borderline crazy.

Yeah, I was always taught to use two. It was never a measured thing, but it's simply become habit after that first year or so of typing.

I never really noticed that I always double-tap my spacebar after every sentence until reading through this thread, though.

On web pages the second space won't even show unless you use the   code.

I remember hearing of the double space thing, but I never do it anymore. I'm not sure if anyone ever actually taught me to do it.

I was taught to double space at the end of sentences in 9th grade english. Never heard about it anywhere else, and single spacing is just easier.
