Furries = wtf?!
Uhm I'm used to dealing with subcultural types- geeks, gamers, modders, goths, rivetheads, anime fans, etc... but this stuff creeps me out in ways I can't begin to describe. I mean, every subculture has it's loser/freak component (ie the short, ugly people you see at cons). But this entire subculture seems that way.
I bring this up because I saw creepy people at the anime con wearing tails and ears. They frightened me. Not in the "afraid for my life" way, but more in the "omg I can't possibly be seeing this shit" way. A guy in a giant bear suit asked me to 'zip him up' in the back. I washed my hands afterwards. still not clean, still not clean!!!! My friend happens to draw anthro stuff and they won't leave her alone. Worse, I used an old nick of mine on dA- PookaBot- and since pooka in white wolf were animal-affinity they all think I'm a furry, too This was my main problem with the anime Wolf's Rain- nice show, but the Furries were all over it like mad. http://furry.wikia.com/wiki/WikiFur_Furry_Central http://furry.wikia.com/wiki/Fursuiting Discuss. Or huddle in fear. Or both. Wonder if there are Emo Furries? (uhm, if you are a furry feel free to try to explain this in terms we'll understand...?) |

If I remember correctly, SilverFox or someone else on these forums said they are a member of the "Furry" crew :P

Remembering the old TFC server/forum "Yiffie's Little Foxies" made me think of it. Along with my current anime-con related trauma. |

2002 called, they want their vilified internet subculture back
In all seriousness, there was a fucking CSI episode about furries a few years back, that's how bad this shit has gotten. Anyhow, somethingawful.com constantly griefs on furries and furry sites, so you can always go there for an in depth look at the sick and depraved. The Weekend Web forum tours of furry forums make my skin crawl |

The only thing that pisses me off about furries is how self-righteous they are and shit. It's like, I'm not against gays, but I can't stand when they (and anyone for that matter) act like they're superior to someone else just because of something they do/believe in. Same with religious nuts. Believe what you want, but keep it to yourself.
The entire community of furries is like this, and this is why everyone fucking hates them. If they'd stop being such a self-pitying group of whiners complaining about "fursecution" maybe we would tolerate their hobby a bit more. to sum it up, omg, it's not friday yet, gtfo furfag etc. |

I'm by no means a Furry sympathizer, but c'mon... at least it isn't child pornography.

LMFAO: Furry Techno-Rave I have to give some credit for that, because it's just crazy hilarious. Strangely, furries do seem to know how to boogie... maybe they spend too much time playing DDR? I can see this as being a fun/silly thing to do just for the sheer absurdity of it. Some of the stuff I've read has been a little self-righteous, though... deluded stuff about animals being better than people and nicer etc. when in fact most animal species either a) ignore each other or b) eat each other. Morality is a human construction, even if we ourselves aren't too great at it sometimes. I've seen people writing Conker fanfic on dA, scary scary. |

Not mention furries tend to be the same people who believe in healing crystals and feng shui and other crap like that. Oh and they think dragons exist. I love painting with one brush If I ever met someone who fucked their own dog (or neighbors) I would punch them as hard as I could in the mouth |

I'm mixed. Some of it's scary, some of it is just funny. I think if they don't take it that seriously, it's probably not so bad. But some of the stuff they talk about seems pretty weird to me.
