Trouble with install

I've noticed a few people having install problems, I'm one of those.

I made sure I had the full install, there weren't any installation issues. I restart steam and it doesn't show on the games list. I try to add a "non-steam game" but can't find the executable on the list or by browing directly to the E:\program files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\FortressFor ever\ folder.

It's not on my start/all programs.

This is my 2nd attempt. First one loaded from Fileplanet downloader, version 2.4 Full install. Deleted that and downloaded from a link on the www.fortress-forever.com site. Same thing both times.

Is the executable supposed to be in the FortressForever folder? A sub folder?

Help is appreciated.. thanks

If you only have TF2 and Portal- then you'd have the Orange Box SDK Base, not the Source SDK Base.

If you're having troubles with steam recognizing the game, ensure the following:
  • Source SDK Base (not the Orange Box version, as FF is using the Episode 1 engine) You can find it under the Tools category of Steam. It comes with many games (listed in another thread)
  • Fortress Forever installed in the correct directory (Steam > steamapps > SourceMods > FortressForever
  • Completely close steam (including tray processes), and restart it

If there's an actual issue with the installers- then we've got a serious problem.

There is no FF.exe

FF runs through steam

this is what the FF shortcut points to:
  • "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 215 -game "C:\program files\steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\FortressForever"
try making a shortcut on your desktop and make this the target
it should work. As long as the files are in the correct place
