Hmm.. do those blocks appear in-game (ie playing on a server) as well? Long shot here, but possibly the BG image is corrupt? Dunno.. drivers maybe? :-/

If it's an nvidia card, you can download a program from nvidia called ntune, it allows you to set the clock settings, as well as see the stats/temp of your computer system.

It should get you started on diagnosing a potential issue, it won't fix it for you.

i had a very similar issue with an ATI card about 5 years ago. it started as just little artifacts on screen in games sometimes (all games), and over time (about 6 months to a year) they got worse and worse and would spread more and faster in games until you couldn't see anything and had to reboot. it then also started to happen in windows, to the point where the whole PC eventually become unusable (it would be fine when you first booted, then would slowly spread). during this time i'd obviously checked temperatures/cooling (they were fine) and tried replacing my gfx card (i tried a friends ATI card, and it all worked fine, but when i returned my card to ATI they assured me was fine, and so made me pay lots of money for sending a "working" card back to them for fixing! - that really really annoyed me).
it all ended one day when the motherboard blew up. i got a new motherboard, put the gfx card in, and instantly even just in windows the artifacts where there and spreading. so i quickly turned the PC off, took out the ATI card and threw it in the bin, and went into town and bought an nvidia card. i had no problems with it ever again, and i'm never buying an ATI card ever again: it made my PC unusable for about a year, blew my motherboard up, and i had to pay them lots of money to incorrectly tell me that the card is fine when they should have replaced it for free... so what i'm saying is it's v likely to be your gfx card, and do something about it now rather than later. try insisting that they send you a new card under the warranty (from my experience that's not gonna happen, but maybe things have improved), or try underclocking it and improving cooling. failing that if it persists just go get an nvidia card tbh. good luck with it - pc problems drive me crazy! |

Try opening up your computer case and laying it on its side so the open part is on the top. Start up FF and see if you still have any problems.

A small fan blowing in the open side of the case might help too.
I have an ATI readeon 9600 saphire and run the latest ATI catylist drivers. http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html Then I go through and set everything to performance.
