gg, was fun. i'm surprised a team of random euros on a pickup chan at 2am (who've never pld together, mostly don't have coms, and don't even know how to play the 5v5 format: real men play openfire 5d/3o while making farmyard noises) managed to put up pretty decent fight.

from my pov it was the most fun i've had in gaming since TFC clanning, and if there are more good clans and games like this in the future then i'd definitely buy a new pc and learn to play FF properly (sadly my fps went to mega slideshow mode with a full game going on, making nice concs and stuff impossible, so i mostly just ran around like a complete noob yay!). i didn't get to see your offy except for some failed backtracking lol, but the thing that impressed me about your def was how the others supported the demo (your engy especially). perhaps i just need to play more FF to get used to it and buy some more fps, but to me it looked like a load of chaos and spam going down, yet in this seemingly unstructured spam you tended to function as a unit fairly well most of the time, so wp and thanks for the game

btw i know 5v5 openfire will always be hard to defend, and i dno what's possible in FF, but imo any team involved in a match that ends 46/32 caps should feel they rly need to go get some practice in and strats sorted!...i know that's what we felt afterwards, both offy and def. so yeah, drop the annoying attitude pls and go get some practice in for next time

While the game was fun admittedly, there were a fair few anomalies as to the fairness of the game. Primarily, the euros have stuck to the 4vs4 format, and having to adapt to a 5vs5 approach within 5 mins pre match was never going to be easy, we didn’t have a clue what tactics to use especially on such an open map as openfire. Scrapping a team of randoms together at 2am and then playing the so called best clan in the world with no comms and no experience together was never going to be anything other than an ego boost for goodfellas, but we did well considering.

I had only installed FF a week before the game so im a little rusty and still getting accustomed to the game play. I was engy defence and then medic offy. Good game nevertheless.

Looks to have been an interesting game, but jesus, that amount of caps from both sides suggests that a different format is VERY neccessary if you're playing maps like openfire.

Cap races are fun and all, but that's just silly. :/

Good show, Euros, not bad for a mix!

i agree that the euro mix-mash team that was put together in such a short time did as well as they did too. especially without running anything really strategically on defense (round 2 at least

) other than glass the demoman, Armchair switched various times from soldier to hwguy, then hwguy to engineer building in the most absurd places that could have been more effective elsewhere. i am sure if any little preparation time was given to you guys the outcome of that match would have been different. ohh and like you said, a few of the euros just installed FF a few days prior whereas the goodfellas have been playing as a team since the initial release and playing just about everyday in pickup/organized matchplay scenarios.

5v5 has always been played as a full game. usually 3 defense on most maps with 2 offy, but sometimes map depending in TFC there would be certain cases where you would run 3 offy and 2 defense (congestus, haste, evenflow and more)

now as you euros claim that you're not used to the format, just imagine 9v9 on the maps you guys play 8v8 in TFC. that extra defender makes for some unique defensive strats and keeps the 4 offensive on their toes to break them down in a given round.
