How would Mr.56k get the mod? GoZilla?! for a couple of weeks? Snail mail? What about all the updates etc?

imo it's a step backwards testing for anything less than ISDN/512k these days, but then I'm not a developer, I just really don't see the point.
is 2000 kbps good eneough, and this is during peak usage hahaha

Plenty of people like TFC but have no options other than dialup. Why should they not be able to play?

LOL, some people here apparently genuinely believe the devs decided for post count to be the main criteria for letting people into the private beta.

This thread should be kept open for the sole spectacle of them trying to weasel their way in.

The same reason people with a P500 & a voodoo2 can't. Some people don't have the money to go out and buy a shiny new Spandex 5000GT graphics card. Do we make sure it works for them too? God created Solitare for people without broadband.

Same in TFC. Each "shot" was 5 bullet holes.

Also, Ihmhi's prolly right. I'd never shut up.

The FF team needs people who will eat, sleep, and shit bug finding. The faster all the bugs are found, the faster they can squash 'em. Which means they can get the public version into everyone's hands quicker.

I just happen to be putting in my 2-weeks tomorrow
Avoid waiting tables. It kinda eats your soul.

But however the team does the beta test, I'm sure they'll organize it well and fairly. Whether I'm in early or the very end, I trust FF will be built solid through betatesting.

the one thing people don't realize:
the major point of beta testing is not playing, but testing
Therefore it isn't called beta playing.

Indeed. The DoD system we had worked quite well, anyone who asked to beta test, didnt get in.

As it turned out the Source Beta testing was a joke as they let us test it, then went:

"So what do you guys want in Source?"

We told them and then they went:

"Ok, lets take it all in-house, ignore what you all said, not tell anyone what we're doing for a year and completely change the game"
