What are Night Fights?

Night Fights are guaranteed Fortress Forever action every weeknight - or as guaranteed as we can hope to make it. A collection of forum moderators, beta testers, server operators, clan leaders, and many other people who are the pillars of this community have gotten together to bring you some good pub play every weeknight!

When are Night Fights?

Night Fights will happen every weeknight (Monday through Friday) at 8:00 PM EST/GMT-5. This is 5:00 PM on the West Coast. Convert the time appropriately depending on where you live. Night Fights will last at least an hour.

Where will Night Fights happen?

Night Fights will occur at [AE]'s server. Here is the IP Address:

You can bring up the console in-game by pressing ~ and typing:

What maps will be played?

Night Fights will be using the following map schedule. We will use it for a few weeks and see how it works out.

Each map will run 30 minutes, and if there are people around past 2 hours additional maps will be played - not necessarily along the theme of the night. It's all up to the admin(s) present.

Maps with their names in Red are being swapped out for reasons described at my most recent post. Replacements will be noted herein if they are decided.

it would be nice for someone who has photoshop skills to make a Night Fights banner, including ip (noting this would have to be modified from time to time), and we could post this on other forums...I'd be happy to do the posting if someone could do the imagework.

Every night of the week with 20 volunteer members to support the program? We barely fill up two full pub servers during the week.

Perhaps you should start things off slowly and do it only once a week. That way it makes it special. Doing it every day wears you down, I was one of the guys who ran owol's FNFrags and it grew beyond just one night. That killed the whole thing very quickly, people were getting burned out running it, and people were getting bored playing it.

well it's mainly we want like 4 / 5 dedicated guys each night...one Capitan to moderate the server and keep the maps and shit running and then 3 / 4 guys to be sure to play so that more people will come in. One of the main reasons we want separate people for each night is so that people don't get burned out. Mainly just looking for people who already play to say "yeah I'll be on every night I can Wed. or Friday or whatever." and then show up when you can.

Any chance of bumping this up to 9:00pm EDT? I'd be up for it but I live on the East Coast and am usually putting my kids to bed at 8:00 EDT. Also that would give the West Coast people time to get home from work ETC since most people get off around 5:00pm.

Since FnF was mentioned I thought I'd throw this out. I am fairly certain that FNF did not exist prior to being created by a few 404 members...

Initially the Llama-Free League (LFL) was floated early in 2000 in response to a particularly awful match we played...against whom I can no longer remember. It then grew into a slightly looser format. FNF was frequently done on my server...which Buckeye bitched about incessantly. I remember getting a frantic IM from a clanmate on one night when I was not participating in FNF where things had ground to a halt because Fisich had fallen asleep on admin duty....literally. Something about being in England and the time change...whatever...

Nice to see it still being kicked around 8 years later.
