We are discussing avatars atm in our forums. Our basic concern is an unnecessary increase in bandwidth. When we are confident that the issue is a minor one we will probably turn them on.

Considering avatars are usually tiny in size (mine is a .gif that is 3.03 KB in size) this should not be a problem. The remaining dial-up users who would suffer from avatars....well...they need to leave thier Amish communities and join the modern world...

Anyway...

Ok.. my avitar is 79 x 18 Pixels... and 4.22 KB. So why am I getting an error message when I attempt to upload it?

That sounds like the directory permissions aren't set correctly, rebo will need to check up on that.

avatars are important, since then you can "learn" who is who just by looking at the avatars.

Yeah, well that is the premise of an operating system...to use a graphical interface to speed user interaction...WHat is an icon but really an avatar of a program? Or do you do everything in DOS?
