I was worried they might fail, but I think that looks pretty cool. Of course, it's just a teaser...

Christian Bale huh? I was expecting this to be another hack job like T3 but must have been a good script if he signed on board..def intrigued.

"
On May 23, 2008, Warner Bros. released the following plot summary for the film. The synopsis was modified on June 11, 2008:

Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor (Christian Bale), the man fated to be the leader of the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators, and the future he was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a Terminator whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they find out a terrible secret that may lead to the possible annihilation of mankind.[1]

James Middleton, the associate producer of the film, stated the film "[is] really about the birth of a new hero,"[2] and McG said that it will also be about the development of the Model 101 Terminator.[3] He explained the film will "begin again very much in the spirit of what [Christopher] Nolan did with Batman," in that it will stand on its own without the original films, and that it is "a bit of a sequel and a prequel because it tells the story of how we got there."[4]"

The trailer looks good, but if what I have heard is true, its gonna be a stupid story and doesn't makes a lot sense. Then again it all could be faked leaked info to toss people off like what Micheal Bay say he was going to do with Transformers 2 (which actually doesn't seem to be working very well).

The info I have read says...

possible spoiler space...

[spoilers]
That John Connor gets killed in the movie, and so that people don't loose hope they take a terminator body and put a John Connor skin on it and give it all his memories and stuff like that.

Yeah no ahnold makes me sad. I hope this is just not an attempt to make a good movie by throwing christian bale at it. That would suck.

This movie doesn't pretend that the 3rd movie never happened and since the third movie was such a huge disgrace this one cannot ever dream of being good.

Also, if anyone here likes the 3rd movie, then you don't like, or understand the franchise.

What I never understood is if they wanted to destroy mankind and all living life on the planet, why not just release a shitload of biological weapons? Couldn't hurt the machines, problem solved.... it'd take them what, 24 hours to kill every living thing on the planet? Not very inventive machines if you ask me.

I've seen the opening scene of this moving, it starts with a terminator walking into congress and Nancy Pelosi asking him to help us understand his movements motivation. The talks go well, right up to the point she bitches about his "contribution to global warming as a machine" is much greater then ours and they just go off half cocked and start killing everyone. That's what the whole movie ends up being about, global warming.

PHAIL. If I want a movie about global warming I'll watch waterworld or An inconvenient truth.

From my understanding they did release biological weapons and nukes too.

But they did save some of mankind in work camps for some reason that I can't remember now. In text I have read, Australia was mostly left alone because they posed no threat to Skynet, which in the end was the downfall of the machines because thats where most of the weapons were coming from.

Also Skynet didn't fire all the missiles it had access to.

And there will always be some survivors of this kind of war on earth unless you boil the land and oceans. There will always be some that survive underground or are immune or just get missed by the radiation and biological.
