People were expecting:
* Something different from TFC
* Something near bug-free considering development time
* Something that ran well
* A release about a year ago, well before TF2.

Oh man this is a very long topic,
and honestly i didn't ready everything

I can only say, i'm sad too.
FF is such a great mod and i thought it would become very popular but as you said... the servers are almost empty.

I really hope we accomplish it to get FF on the right way.

I did my contribute for a few weeks ago with a gametest (in german) supportive to this great mod.

I thought that FF was a great game and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

Perhaps some ingame tutorials(demos?) could be made about tricks and skills that aren't so easy to grasp for new players such as concing, bhopping, trimping, etc.

I think the devs are working on a basic in-game tutuorial. I'm not sure if its gong to make it into the 1.1 patch.

In game tutorial? what...we dont have enough in game bells and whistles? aw common. There is no reason you cant have a tutorial on the website itself. why put it inside the game?

In my country i made a big-ass guide of skills, another of how to solve technical problems, other with info of all the clases and so on, but still with those crashing bugs and stuff people run away, but because of the guides and the good will of the people that teach noobs and stuff we dont have the "this is too complicated/elitist" anwser but the "omg 5mins to load a map and in 5 seconds the game freezes and in those 5 seconds i had 20fps!"

Yeah, I don't see why either. People aren't so dense they need a lesson. A few mins on it and you've familiarized yourself with the game. It's as straight forward as FPS get but with classes. Plus the hints.....

Lets see, your posting at 4:54 AM (EST?) I don't know, maybe most of us are asleep? I'm betting that the vast majority of players are from North America. Sorry your playing in an off time, recrute friends to the cause.

I'm so tired of people constantly bitching about the lack of PR for this game. Everybody wants the devs to do it all, what is stopping you from going out yourself and doing some PR for the game? If you don't have the time to do it yourself then you have no right to complain that others, who are already devoting massive amounts of time to the game itself, don't have the time.

I.E. Put up or shut up.

Gambit: I think he means that TFC is better for some people because their computers are too sh1t to cope with FF and its sexeh graphics.

No, I didn't mean that (although it's true)

I just find TFC much easier for the eye, more clean.
FF has too much details.

It's hard to explain in another language :s

Then how about

TFC > FF (physics)

I prefer the unrealistic hl (player)physics, it's just hilarious sometimes. Same for mods like The Specialists, people getting kicked and blown all over the place just make things a lot more fun (for me). Even though these aren't necessarily part of gameplay, I do think they are very important in portraying the overall impression of the game. For me, TFC (with custom models/textures) just looks crazy, while FF seems a lot more serious. The seriousness also seems to come with certain amounts of realism (like the graphics), which kind of throws me off.

Still, I think most people are just waiting for the patch before they start playing again.

In my view, or opinion or even time, I think FF is somewhat more populated in the morning than the night. Yeah it may sound obvious, mabye people need their sleep or summer ended.

Around morning I see about a couple full and several other servers over 10 players, around 10+ servers total. Then when it hits around 7/8 pm the numbers drop and only about 2-3 serves are full and the other ones are either empty, or have less then 10 players.
