Take out sniper class

This is the most annoying class. No way to defend it in long range maps, give offense players a shield or something. The most skilled players can get shot by these noobs. Need a way of not dying from some guy sitting back and just letting go of the mouse button.

The way I see it, the sniper should be able to keep the defensive classes (engineer, HW, soldier) from crossing the middle but not prevent offensive classes from attacking. This is done by giving offensive classes abilities that let them cross. Conc for scouts and medics, pipe jumping for demo, cloak for spy, flamethrower bunnyhopping for pyro. However right now, with a good sniper, no one can cross the middle.

Here's kind of a radical idea:

Remove sniper rifle, give snipers mini-homing rockets that can be steered via the laser sight. Make them not as fast or powerful as a soldier's. This would accomplish exactly what angrypyro is discussing. Fast moving air classes would be practically untouchable. Slow moving ones would be much more vulnerable. It would also give players time to try and dodge the rockets, so it's not an instakill situation trying to cross the yard. Rocket damage could also be lethal to anyone carrying the flag.

This would however, eliminate the traditional sniping style, so it wouldn't please everybody, but might make him potentially more practical as a defender. Maybe have a "tag gun" with a scope and a quick reload time to retain some of his functionality.

I recommended something on the Team Fortress 2 forums to this effect:
  1. Lever-Action Rifle without the Zoom Ability.
  2. Crosshair grows and weapon becomes highly inaccurate while moving.
  3. Standing still quickly shrinks crosshair and makes the weapon 100% accurate.
  4. Deals huge damage to the chest, weak damage to legs/arms/etc.
  5. Deals double damage to the head when 100% accurate.
  6. Firing causes the weapon to become slightly inaccurate/crosshair grows.
  7. Therefore, standing still reduces refire rate.

Allows the Sniper to snipe slow moving classes in the head and drop them in 2 or 3 hits. Also is only practical at medium-close ranges where the Sniper can be interacted with. Requires a huge feat of skill to pull off at long range, but the ability is still there. No damage falloff.

I still think that making the sniper rifle more of a projectile based weapon would be a good start in finding a better niche for the sniper.
Would make all classes harder to hit, especially fast moving scouts, but would make classes like the soldier and hw easy peasy.

Another suggestion make All other classes able to see snipers through walls like the objective icon. So you can prepare an offensive maneuver for the noob playing sniper

You mean "Tagging", without needing the skill/ability to actually tag the player first....
