Listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about. But if you really want to try it, this is what you would do to directly port a GldSrc map to Source:
1. Use Wally to take all of the original textures used and save them as images. 2. Convert them to materials with VTFEdit or your favorite VTF program. 3. Run the map through both WinBSPC and BSP2MAP because they use different methods and will produce different outputs. 4. Open the resulting MAP files in Hammer 3.4 and decide on which one looks less ugly. 5. Save it as an RMF and then open it in the new Hammer. Save it as a VMF. 6. Replace all of the textures with your new materials you made. 7. The hard part: you will have to replace all of the old entities with Source engine ones, and Lua. |

y it works ty , i was tryng to open the file. map in hammer and it give me some kind of error but y in old hammer it works then its a question to save to vmf and open with the recent hammer

save to "rmf" then open in new hammer..
