Just want to point out that this is entirely untrue. Base movement speed has remained constant throughout all FF patches and is roughly equivalent to TFC (if I remember right, it takes almost exactly the same amount of time to run from one end of the yard in ff_dev_2fort to the other as it does in the TFC map that was ported to make ff_dev_2fort [2fort_2k6 or something like that]).

That's sort of what I figured, but the game is also pretty solid after years of development. And I also know it's not good to repeat the past. While FF's original release may have been somewhat premature, I think now is a better time than ever to get Steamworks going with this mod.
My only worry is that it will be more than a couple FF updates before it's released on Steamworks because who knows how long that will take? And with Source graphics becoming more and more outdated every day, I fear we will be too late to even make an impression on new people.
Not trying to add to the already large pressure you guys have as devs though. I just want to see this mod succeed, and I will trust that you all will do everything you can to make it so.

You're right, I just did a test to confirm that. I remember reading that information in a forum thread a couple years back and it was never questioned then. So I guess that makes the speed complaint irrelevant, shot slowing is a perfectly valid counter to that. That leaves 5 other items on the list.

all of which have changes for in the beta except pyro which is still the same for now.

SG does need more buff in beta.. I'm waiting till shok's back to talk with him on how to make it go down less easily. Still want a bit more power too but mainly bugs me how easily it goes down without the engi around

I am dismayed that nobody has taken part in my contest. Name the correct class, get a youtube link.

ok ill give it a whirl (jesus crist if it means that much to you ill take part in it.)

sniper
engie

i want to say demo-man just for the tf2 reference but i know it won't happen. so ill only guess 2 and see if im wrong.

oh and about the sentry i say to make it counter fast classes this way the other team will have to be more resource full at the point instead of just spamming scouts.

why because ive watched this game and noticed that offense you use 2 classes really. (it shocks me that you call this a team game sometimes. and defense uses the rest of em. this way a offensive heavy or a demo/solider on offense would then make sense.

also i thought of an idea that would be cool
sense everyone plays like this anyways i think having a a/d ctf would be something that would be very popular. also you could use existing maps but id consider making totally new ones like take monkey and revamp it so that its designed for the game type. this could be done with any map and make pubs more competitive while also having more structure getting rid of death-match in middle. also make it more teamwork based without getting rid of your beloved ctf as of now tf2 has more teamwork than this game. (from what ive seen anyways. no offense but the classes arn't very teamwork orientated right now. part of the thing i loved about tf2 is that without teamwork you will fail. this game not so much.)

this is actually a good idea, ctf map with 1 flag then switch over between defense/offense after 1/2/3 caps : O

It doesn't have to be news, it could be whatever, a joke, a fun thought, or whatever, just something that updates the main webpage more than once every 8-10 months.

Anything that shows the current player base the Devs are still around, and shows any new people that there's some activity.

When I go to a website and see the the last sign of activity was almost a year ago, the first thing I think is, that this site is dead.

Very true. I'm sure a lot of people who have played FF have never visited the FF forums. Maybe have a twitter feed show up on the FF website as I've seen a few updates on there from time to time.

Edit: after looking at the main page again, it seems the twitter feed is listed, so people can still click that to see some updates.

truuuee, I think the best thing to be would be to tie the twitter feed into the news posts. Can flag news posts separately, but just to get it on the front page instead of that tiny little box that no one ever notices.

Haha, yeah. See, Jon was like hounding me constantly when he took over leading stuff, but I think I was uhh... I don't remember what I was doing. Then I got this job that seemed really awesome writing boring ass business code all day, and I realized that I really... wanted to do creative shit again, and then I almost got my girlfriend pregnant, anddddd then this seemed like the good place to let you know, my best friend, Dexter.

Seriously, though, Dexter is fucking titties-in-and-around-your-face amazing on Showtime.

I have to admit I haven't watched it
Stop writing boring business apps and work on FF AGAIN! We need at least half of the Day bro action like old times

Jon and I got drunk at Ironman a few years ago, and I think some guy and his bitchy ass woman were going to kill me. People apparently don't like loud drunk people during movies. I thought this was America?

These stories are important to this discussion.

It'd be more interesting if you removed the word "Retired" from your name tag.

Squeek, is it just yourself and Shok (or is it just you) that can post news? I'm not allowed to and I'm fairly sure its the same for most devs.

I wanted to post a short "We're still here" message, apologising for the lack of updates a small explanation on our part and to alert people about the twitter updates that so easily get missed.

Also considered a bit of news too but first thing's first...
