Yeah I have to agree with Infidel, you gotta compare the same thing. Creating a server is not the same as simply joining one. Plus Dust 2 isn't exactly an amazingly complex map.

2GB RAM 44s, and thats on a fresh load. 8s, once game has loaded once but by far the biggest impact will be HDD type/speed which you didnt mention. ive got WD2500KS x 2 in raid0. Generally i load up internet games first or close to it |

ballistix pc5300 @ ddr2-960 4-4-4-4 (2.4x mem multi)
and i suspect all these people reporting < 15s are not a first time load of FF/map, and hence helped a lot by filecache (as seen by my 44s vs 8s difference between first/second load) |

indeed, but i dont think that everyone in here has been posting first load (which would have to be done after reboot to removing all file caching effects). i think ive only ever seen 2 people load a map quicker than me (ive probably played about 50 maps), so to have people saying it only takes them 10s doesnt sound right

18 seconds to create a listen server for first time after reboot (but as ppl have said that doesn't really represent anything).
Joining servers takes between 10 and 15 seconds max (depending on the map). Perfectly acceptable imo. Having gfx settings very low makes load times much faster btw for anyone bitching. CPU: Athlon64 x2 4200+ 2mb RAM: 2GB 3200 Chipset: nForce4 ----- CaptScum, the no death msgs and scores not working is a bug that effects everyone. From what I've found the chances of it happening can be greatly reduced by having mp_prematch 0 (if you've had it anything other than 0 since the server started, restart it).
