Board Restructuring
We're looking at various ways of restructuring this board, and here's what we've come up with so far.
Ditch the "general" board, and have this board structure instead:
Looking for opinions from players on this. The general board in this section has pretty much become a shitfest - we know it, you know it, everyone else knows it. With this, the board has direct purpose, there's no guesswork as to what is and isn't topical, and we don't lose any functionality. If you have any suggestions or comments, leave them here.

I think the general board is a necessary evil. Yes, topics get moved or deleted quite a bit, but that would happen anyway if the general board didn't exist. Plus, some people like talking about FF in general. Removing that doesn't really help much. There is already a clan/league place, and although what you've suggested is nice, having it replace the general section is probably not a good idea. Keep the general section and make the clan/league sections broken up the way you want.
Go to 90% of other forums, and they all have general discussion sections regarding whatever topic the board is about. It's not a bad idea to keep it. |

I think he's talking about under the Communitues, Leagues, Clans, and Guilds bit of the board.

I don't think splitting the board up by league location is a good idea yet, the community just isn't big enough to split everything up like that, i would like to see a ceaspool in this section like in the cats. But my main point it not to split everything up by league location ie. EU NA AZN AUS

vBulletin 3.8.0 RC 2 was released today. This version is supposed to have a social groups feature that allows the groups to act as their own forum. That way the administrator of this site would not have to worry about creating a lot of forum sections - let the social groups feature deal with that. This would allow the forum to be more flexible then it is right now. If the owner of this site has let their VB license expire, maybe the members of this community will pitch in enough to renew it. Heck, I will even help with the updating. I run a VBulletin forum that gets over 2.3 million page views a month and has over 10,000 members. When members ask for a new forum section, I tell them to go make a group for it instead. Also, through the social groups feature, each clan can have their on page in the FF forum. |

These are very nice features, the social groups seems like a decent idea but I'm not 100 % sold on it. It would be something we would have to try out and see how it works. As far as clans having their own page I don't think FF site should be for that, A we are recruiting thread is fine or looking for a clan, That is what this section was originally started for if I remember right but half the threads have turned into shit fests and this isn't the Image we want to put out.
