Server map downloads missing LUA files
hey, i downloaded ff_concmap_mc off of a server that was running it last night, after i downloaded it the map immediatly changed, so i was like, well screw that i wanna try that map
so i load the map up on my own server - the problem? no LUA file..... which means the concmap has no bags to give you concs. i dont know if this is something the developers would have to fix, or if it is a server setting. I know back in tfc, certain maps had problems with servers not uploading WAD files with maps that needed them, and the servers had to be setup in such a way to upload all of the files a map needs so basically if servers dont upload LUA files, i either have to search the forums/net for a download of the map that includes the LUA (which since every map i try to download of of a server JUST came out, it can be hard/impossible to find the LUA - last night for example i downloaded the map from a server, but i couldnt find the LUA for ff_concmap_mc on the forum or the net, yet today i found the forum post) so please, if it is a problem needed to be fixed by the devs, please fix, and if it is a setting that servers need to have on, please turn the setting on, just cuz we can play on your server without the LUA file doesnt mean we dont need the lua file!!! thanx |

Weird...I was just going to post about the same thing, regarding the same map...
I hope this gets fixed as I would love to play these maps by myself. |

You need to include whatever is the equivalent of the HL1 .res file (it tells the server what associated resources [lua files, sound files, texture files etc.] to distribute to clients) with the map to get the rest of the stuff to download. I don't know what it is for HL2, so you'll have to go digging.
I believe sh4x figured it out. |

Is there anything that can be done about this on the clients side?
I would love to play some conc maps at school where the internet connection sucks! |

Alternativly, a precache generic can be called on the lua file for the map so they do not need to be included in a res file.

engine->PrecacheGeneric doesn't seem to send the lua files to the client. Is there something I'm missing with this to get that working?
