I'm pretty sure that the initial build of Dustbowl for TFC woulda been a ghost town had they been able to (without time/resource limitations.)

If this map follows the 2fort theme, then by cap point 3 you'll probably be fighting in a some sort of hi-tech futuristic industrial type scenario...

All I was really saying was that if in fact they had wanted to be arseholes and do a jerky thing (not they necessarily did) they would only have had to release a very partial part of the map, seeing as the pic is ovf a finished model and about 1/10th of the whole thing.
As well, the article mentions the three maps they are working on are 2fort, dustbowl, and well, though I'm sure they have a few more on the burner |

Again, all classic Valve maps. Of course they are going to be remaking those. It's not like they saw that FF was doing them so they have to do them as well.
Also, why would they try to piss off a community of people who are very much likely to play their game? |

Again, apart from dustbowl, I think (not 100% sure, cry me a river if wrong) they were around before Valve. I hardly think that copying FF (even if they did, which they haven't) is hardly likely to alienate a whole community; maybe one or two gimps up the FF dev arses, but that's about it. Obviously the devs themselves would be rightfully crying themselves to sleep every night, but then I'd be the same. |

Yes, they were around before Valve. Course, 2fort was the original TF map designed by John Cook who was hired by Valve. The Well would be the only one not originally created by a member of TFS or Valve. That was created by Sgt. Thundercok, who also made The Rock.
Also, I was responding to PsYcNeT who was hinting at Valve making Dustbowl look like that just to compete against FF. |

How can you say Valve sucks.. when it created the engine that this mod will be played on... only problem Valve has is that it delays products, and sometimes the gameplay is not the way most people want. ie: CS 1.6 to CS:S. and DoD to DoD:S. Aside from Steam having its small errors and problems every now and then... look at how much it has helped us on a larger scale.. not having to DL server and client updates from websites and mirrors etc.. waiting 3 hours for fileplanet.. anyway, saying "Valve sucks" is just completely absurd.

There's surely no way they can mess up as much as they have done previously, so TF2 has a good chance.

imo they were both independently created. there's no way the FF team could have seen the TF2 dustbowl early, and there's no way even valve could have made that dustbowl map in response to FF in that period of time.

Well, like someone said right now they just have 1 screenshot, not necessarily a whole map.

What's even funnier is that without them, none of this would be what it is today
