VMT Files / Player activities
Lots of the people in this subforum will be familiar with the VTF/VMT combo that Source needs in order to show textures and how they're lit & bumpmapped etc.
My question is, can a texture be switched through a VMT file as a result of changing player states/activities? An example, an average knife, textured and all: knife.vtf (the regular texture) knife_bloodied.vtf (regular texture with blood on the blade) knife.vmt (the file outlining everything Source needs to know) So for regular animations such as ACT_VM_IDLE; ACT_VM_DRAW etc., the non-bloody skin would be used. What i would like to do, is to use an activity such as ACT_VM_HITCENTER (+attack1) to trigger a switch of the skins, replacing knife.vtf with knife_bloodied.vtf. What would the variable be? Or would it be possible to call up certain frames of a multilayered texture instead of loading a second texture on trigger? Answers appreciated! |

This makes me wonder if FF has any unique texture proxies?
I'm think about automated player-item interaction, like, if a player picks up flag or stands on a trigger a texturetoggle or some such entity could rely the players team color to the proxy.. Thogh I suppose that example could easily be down with the default entities and a little lua... I dunno, does FF have any weird little quirks like new texture proxies and whatnot? |
