-console problems

If I add -console to my bat file thats supposed to start my FF DS, it gets to the line:

Code:
Network: IP 63.249.32.123, mode MP, dedicated Yes, ports 27016 SV / 27007 CL
and basically stops.

If I remove the -console switch, it loads the HLDS GUI fine and I can start the server.

Any suggestions/solutions/etc?

leave the -console part out of the batch file, and tick the console thing in advanced keyboard options. works a treat for me!

to be more exact,, mine works as follows:

Code:
D:\HL\steam.exe -applaunch 205 +secure -game fortressforever +map ff_monkey
omit *D:\HL\steam.exe* because yours will be different

First of all, I said I was starting a dedicated server (pretty sure you can't do that from inside the client). 2nd, not sure what client options have to do with the server.

Anyway...

I'm actually using the stand alone SRC HLDS, the one that you get from using hldsupdatetool.exe.

So it my bat looks like:
Code:
start /realtime srcds.exe -game FortressForever +maxplayers 16 -port 27016 -console
Like I said, if I remove -console, I get the green HLDS GUI which I don't want, but if I keep -console, I get the HLDS console window but it doesn't get past the line I mentioned in my first post.

Basically what I'm saying is that there is a bug in the HLDS build of FF that needs to be fixed.

This is the one I'm using on my windows server.

srcds.exe -console -game FortressForever +ip 00.00.00.00 -port 27015 +maxplayers 16 +map ff_shutdown2 +exec server.cfg

Have not had any problems

I think I know now. The dedicated server doesn't auto-load a map as there is no mapcycle file (?), so it just idles until the map is set.

Regardless of the name, it doesn't load it if +map <mapname> isnt present in the command line.
