I heard somewhere that it is sorta now. Now don't quote me on this because this is just something I heard from 3rd party. But if you can prove that they have no use of the domain itself, and it plays a vital role towards you and if you can validate that. They can't hold onto it.

I'm sure there's legalities about this, and I don't even know if it's true, but it's worth looking into if you're serious about it. Couldn't hurt anyways.

Domains are first come, first serve, and it should stay like that... I also sort of agree with domain squatting. It is a dick move in a lot of ways, but the people who are enterprising enough to get their hands on domains deserve whatever they get for it (if they do).

Not suggesting it's copyrighted.. rather the fact that the person has no reason to buy the domain other than for squatting purposes.

However, it's still all a very grey area

domain squatting is immoral, luckily in a court you can get the domain back.

It's not enterprising... he is probably paying 5 dollars a month for it and is asking for an insane amoutn of money. When you buy property you have to pay large monthly mortgages so you are inclined to ask a fair price. This guy doesn't care if he sells it soon, he's just being a hinderance to the workings of the internet. He doesn't "deserve" anything simply for brainstorming the scam before anyone could do anything. If anyhting, all he deserves is a swift kick in the pants and face.

It's not worth the trouble. If the noobs don't have the couple of brain cells to search Fortress Forever on google first they don't deserve to play the game and potentially ruin it for the rest of us.
