Server Upgrade

The [o-t] has been looking at getting a new box. We're currently running a Pentium 3 3.0Mhz with a gig or RAM. We're looking at a AMD Athlon X2 4450e 2.3GHz (Dual Core) with 4 gig of RAM. I haven't been able to find a decent comparison in performance for these two, even on Tom's hardware....

thoughts?

That's the game server. I need to know if two AMD 2.3 cores is much faster then one pentium 3.0.... from everything I have heard it is, but want to be sure.

Go with a core2duo or core2quad for the server. It should come in within your price range.

What's up with the servers performance anyway? It's always lagging for everyone when I try to play there.

Doing a tracert from the server to your IP there is a significant jump in lag on the "sprintlink" network just outside Chicago...
