Hey All!

In the last couple weeks I am reluctant to admit that i think FF is slowly dying out. The once thriving new mod is now suffering and losing spotlight to factors that have already been recognized before in the community.

Some thoughts/observations

During the weekdays its very hard to find a pub during the day before 4 o clock, unless you want to play on the euro pubs or pickup. Weekends are better but still are lackluster population wise compared to other games. Theres 1-3 pubs to play on max, given theres a lot of people on. People, be the first one to join your favorite empty server with a good map running, and hell wait for 10 minutes get shit crackin/more people to join.

Pickups have also decreased drastically as well. Pickups are rare midday and arent really very active until about after 5pm, granted we all work etc, but I know CS and TFC still has a ton of populated servers all day and all night, DOD too. FF is way better and more polished/updated than TFC imo and TFC still has more action and server population round the clock. WHATS GOING ON FF!!!!

FF is also still very early in its stages for gauging and perfecting solid competitive play. UGC and STA were good ways for FF clanners to really discover "what works" and "whats fair" for offense and defense. Congrats and thanks to top clans like KBN/Goodfellas for experimenting with strats and winning shit. But until consitancy issues are dealt with like fix blue demo pipes, get client drop issues fixed, get sg tracking and strength / pushback issues sorted out, class limits set (3 engineer defense?). Little intricacies stack up and rob the game of its true potential.

I am not here to just complain, i really want the mod to pickup and get more attention/ player base, but what were been doing hasnt been working hence my post here. TF2 is really taking the spotlight compared to FF. TF2 is starting to become acceptable to talk about in the FF community

I also think the elitist mentalities that exist in some of the top clans in FF also have their part in contributing to FF's demise. No ones gonna wanna pickup/pub if they get (A) made fun of for sucking/being worse by the pickup participants(B)get crushed by the same better players/teams again and again. I see both happening all the time and by some of the same people/clans, I am not going to name names, but i think the FF community already knows the bigmouth wanna be FF celebs that exist.

So in the end I think gameplay consistancy is a big reason why FF isnt kicking off like it should, i also think that 2.1 needs to come out in next 3 months or so because I dont think FF can run on 2.0 much longer.

I am no computer programmer/animator/ anyone who could really help the game and get 2.1 out quicker, so i leave that to the other people who care about the game as much as i do but have those skills, I just want to try to get more some actions/thoughts stirred up so this mod can have a brighter future.

This is constructive criticism that I can mostly agree with. There are, at many times, too many private servers with players.....but no pubs. I'm not sure about the gameplay tweaks....however, I'm not in a clan or league play enough to say. It's fun for me, but some serious competition may require some serious balancing.

I have noticed it too. I really, really, hate that. But I don't know what I can do. It doesn't help that many people say stuff about this mod because they prefer TF2 (example). I didn't play FF until a few weeks after I heard about it because people had said it was dead. Which it completely isn't. I think of dead as no players. People play FF. And now I love FF, I play it more than any game I own.

in all seriousness, i think that FF does need something, namely what some dude suggested in one of the other thrwads. dont make much more of these threads, mods will start deleting them. it happened last time. FF never did die completley. sure, it does need a new patch with animations, training mode, and hints fixed, it still is fine as it is. aftershock needs to be in on the forums much more often though.
