*update*

Our corp, Legion Federation, just deployed our POS (Player Operated Station) out in low security space. There's really valuable asteroids to mine and big scary rats to hunt.

If anyone wants some more risky action *hint hint* they should come check it out!

This is our POS. The little arrow points to me. Edit: I mean the purple jpg'd splotch.

Really? I always thought fans of The Sims or Black and White and other games like that would handle a steep learning curve, TF players always struck me as the poster children for Ritalin.

I've played this twice, once 3 years ago while going to college using a free trial, I played til the end of the trial at which point I had no friends playing, and got bored out of my mind mining. Then I decided to give it another shot about 3 months ago and I used a free trial until it ended and paid for 2 months after that, and again got bored as hell and quit. I suppose I can return to my account at any point, but I just can't find anything entertaining to do. I don't like sitting around all day watching skills upgrade over a 45 day period... 1 at a time... That was the real killer for me, when I found it was going to take 45 days in real time to get 1 fucking level 5 ship. ONE specific class level 5. I mean shit I can understand if you get all level 5 ships after that long (provided you can afford them) and have other skills allowing you to pilot them or something but shit 45 days for one fucking ship class. Screw that. When I stopped I had a good few Secure cargo containers (the largest ones) the second largest industrial ship (I basically used it to mine ore) I was making millions in no time. I bought that ship with a million that a guy gave me when I started the trial, then paid him back, made more then quit. On top of all of this I releazed I never have time to play anyway :P

It is a good game, great graphics for being such an old game, and TONS of stuff to learn do, just too slow for me.

Vertical's avatar looks like a shemale.

Sobe Green didn't have much choice when it came to team colors, did he?

Game sounds interesting, but I do not play MMORGs as a rule. I'm sure I would love them. Too much.

I'm seriously considering dropping WoW for this. I'll be giving it a go once my computer is upgraded enough.

Eve is less strenuous than WoW on yer system, probably. Fun game but I got super bored of it and quit.

I lot of people I know of say they got bored of EVE and quit. All of those people sat around mining in high-sec. OF COURSE YOU'LL GET BORED MINING IN HIGH-SEC! Ya gotta do something DANGEROUS and end up in a war or two or go mine in really low security where even the rats are scary as hell. Or don't mine at all! Be a pirate or go to complexes or something, the game is only boring if you sit around mining Concentrated Veldspar in 0.9 systems.

Also, Vertical, it helps if you don't get overly obsessed with getting a new ship. That's really not THAT big of a part of the game... even a t1 frigate is useful in a battle, and it only takes a week or so to learn how to use a Mining Barge, which is a LOT better than an industrial ship for mining... as in it would mine about 100 times faster.

Oh, and Nez is right, if you bother with learning skills and implants everything takes less than half as long to learn.

AND! The game would be RETARDED if you could get every "level 5" (I think you mean tech 2...) ship after 45 days. There would be no specialization and no benefit from playing longer. This isn't Diablo 2, it's an actual MMO where things are supposed to take time. In fact, it's literally impossible to learn how to use every tech 2 ship as they are added into the game faster than you can learn how to use them.

speaking of MMO....I have 2 chars on Silkroadonline...it's FREE and there's a SHITEload of peeps on the server. Lots of Guilds.

This game is free to play. Servers are based out of South Korea, so, you
do get some lag once in a while.

I have abandoned my chars for a while cuz I have learned that there is absolutely no life whatsoever in these type of games. They're soo damn addictive and it's too easy to spend hours and hours on them. Having a
bot playing the game for you is the only way to get ahead. That way
you can become powerful without the hastle of having no life, not
being productive, an overall BUM.

MMORPG's should be outlawed....ruin lives. Seriously

I was looking into Silk Road until I discovered that it secretly installs a rootkit on your computer that hooks into your kernel and introduces new security vulnerabilities in Windows, which isn't exactly bulletproof to start with. Korean MMOs, now served with extra malware!

You guys know there's a Silkroad thread around already, right?

Anyway, thanks to me stealing all of Gnyevko's cash, I'm almost able to buy my next ship (which I've had the skills for forever)

I'd be all like, "I didn't appreciate that, Nezumi." but I really didn't mind. I decided to learn ALL of the learning skills before anything big so I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum as Nez. I can get the money for what I want to buy in like one day, but I won't be able to fly it for a week.

But once you do, and I get my Brutix outfitted as a support ship, we can find a level 4 complex and put it in our mouth and eat it.
