I think most people half expected an announcement like this at this time, from what was being said by devs and testers recently. Plus there's a lot of september still to go

Hype machine is not in full flow yet. Well actually it isn't flowing at all. Even the news posts on the various sites have been a tad underwhelming.

Maybe a bit more buzz to be created with the upcoming gameplay clips.

Lack of a firm release date also doesn't help I think, even though it's understandable why it hasn't been given.

The release date has been set to October 9/10 for a while now.

Preload maybe but a free weekend before release is highly doubtful.

You could probably beat Episode 2 in a weekend. But a free trial for TF2/Portal wouldn't seem unreasonable.

I bet its a one map demo. Anything else doesnt make sense: preload wouldnt be enough to "not go anywhere before you hear this"

It seems VALVe's great announcement will be the early release of TF2 for the PC users this coming week.

What does this tell you guys?

It's HL2 and CSS coming out before it all over again!!

If they release TF2 early for PC then it's a pretty dickish move. I'm still bitter over the fact that they completely ignored TFC and now if they are trying to put FF in the dark it makes me even more bitter.

Well, its valve, valve have been turning into a microsoft like company over the last 3 years, money hungry, and less caring about the fanbase. not to say they do not care at all about the TFC community at all, it still shows their attempt to shadow FF, if that is what they are truly trying to do. if not it is just very high coincidence.

either way both titles will be very promising.

Yeah, 'cause TFC's community doesn't want TF2. OH WAIT.
