Water features?
I don't actually have HL2 yet - will buy when FF is out. I have a good map idea that i'm working on and would like to try.
Does HL2 have a waterfall texture or ability to create a waterfall? |

as far aas I know HL2 lacks an entity to tap into it's particle system, so I guess you could still use an animated texture waterfall. I didn't see any waterfalls in the game at all, so you would probably ahve to make this texture yourself. Although it would look ugly as hell that way though.

Wasn't there a waterfall in the hl2 demo that showed stain glass windows, glass block and such like? It was showing these transparent substances to show the effect of it on the stuff behind it. Remember later in the demo it showed a character either made of water or with water pouring over him (I can't remember which)

There was a character model given the water texture and materials, but not pouring over him, he was made of water. Kill him, and he'd fall like a ragdoll instead of disentigrating. A bunch of people over at HL2World.com in the Mapping section of the forums, have tried many different things to get the waterfalls to work. So far, the only possible thing you can do is find a realistic waterfall texture (animated) and then apply a smoke entity to the bottom and very lightly at the top... |
