Clan Rules?
In a mod with such a small player base, why are servers enforcing ridiculous "clan rules" on players?
If there are class restrictions it's one thing to only allow, say, a medic go offense. But if I choose to play a medic on defense because I CAN DO WELL AT IT, why am I kicked? If upon entering the midfield as the "supposed" heaviest offensive class, a soldier, and a medic flies at me with a medi-pak, why would I get kicked by an admin for "fighting in the midfield?" If I play sniper and I take out a scout while he's double conc jumping across the map, why do I get banned by an admin for shooting someone on the offense in the middle? What is the point of a game when 1 out of 3 POSSIBLE servers that have more than 5 people consist of "clan players" who get their jollies by playing a game according to internet playguides? If you want a clan server with ridiculous class rules, then lock your server. I like the idea of FF and it really is fun. It's a nice addition to the TF line, and since it is so similar to TFC, I can really enjoy it. The new patch has made things even better but why, and how, can people who want to play tactically but not by the same guidelines that somehow magically got ported over without real regard for the new dynamics of the game... well, play? On many occasions, players other than myself have voiced their disgust with having only one server to choose from that basically ruins any havoc that the game can create. Sure, I must be a noob because I don't take the game seriously.. but "clan rules" on public servers don't make sense. |

Since I know that this is going to get locked before it turns into another pub vs clanner or Newb vs clanner debate...I will say this:
If you don't like it play somewhere else...some people like playing by those rules and don't like others who ruin their gameplay. Some don't like it the other way...just play where you like...

The only problem is there are *maybe* 3 servers that have more than 5 people at most times throughout the day. You have a choice between 24/7 dustbowl spamfest, a clan rule server, or a regular pub that's always full. There really isn't anywhere else to play. My main thing is to lock the "clan rule" servers and have a base of people that enjoy that sort of game, and don't get all hissy when I want to play a medic on D. It's not that I don't understand the style of gameplay, I just feel that with such a small player base you have no choice in where to play.

but that's the magic of the game...it's a totaly free mod that can be multi - managed to suit whatever you see fit. I understand what you are saying, but you have to look at it from the other perspective as well. I have a clan and like clan rules, but If every clan server locks their server then I have to play on pubs (which i generally hate) so why be fair to you and not to me?
Just go by the rules that are implemented on the server or obviously you face a ban / kick...

Play on {NFO}, SteamFriends.com, or [o-t]'s servers. They don't have clan rules. {NFO} is pretty popular, as is SteamFriends (although they cheat at it).
