I need a game that's addicting to help me waste away my break. Needs to be free/cheap. NO MMOs! PC or DS.

I know you say no MMOs, but guild wars is cheap, and addictive, and no monthly fee. Other than that, all I can think of is solitaire.

Fallout 3 can be addicting if you're an RPG kind of guy. Also, The Witcher. It can be hit and miss with those two games.

Diablo 2 is an obvious choice if you've never played it, but if you have it's not as great going back.

For an RTS, I'd say WC3+the expansion. The normal game is fun, but the other map modes just make it great. Dota, TD's, mauls, it's all gravy.

For a pure game experience, do Guild Wars. You did say no MMO but it's about as much of an MMO as Diablo 2 is. Free to play, AI's that you can play with, an >actual story to follow<. It's an actual RPG that you can play with others. Fairly awesome stuff. Mainly if you like RPG's.

There aren't many FPS game I find addicting. Mainly because they have little replay value after beating them most of the time. The new CoD is really good though.

Or, you could go on Pogo.com, and play one of their free games. I must admit that I enjoy playing the Pogo Bowling, and the 3card Bingo.
