seems you're trying to compare two things: strafe jumping and bunny hopping are different terms. to add to the cloudy bullshit: cpma is not a good comparison of vanilla 'strafe jumping' due to the different movement. a plain q3 comparison would probably help you make more sense of it. Here's the thing, jumping is only half of it, mousing a very specific way makes up for a lot of speed as well.

edit: err i misread: summary - quakeworld/cpma style - tons of aircontrol, with speed increase with mousing as well. q2/vq3/ql - classic strafe + forward while mousing a specific way to gain speed. sometimes incorrectly called bhopping because you're bhopping in teh process

goldsrc/source games - chain jumping in a certain timeframe to build up speed. its worth noting tho cs and css have circle strafing to build speed by mousing around tho im not familiar with the details but this guy has the angles perfect
