The actual style of the icons was something I originally saw someone else do but I decided to customise it to my own tastes so I made all of the icons myself.
I am currently using RocketDock to display them although I'd prefer not to have to use any dock software at all. I tried ObjectDock as well but it enforces such a large gap when you use separators it prevented all of my icons fitting on the screen so I dumped it in favour of RocketDock.
The main reason I went with text only icons was because you simply cannot find good high resolution icons for all the programs you use. You always end up with one or two looking strange or being the wrong size and ruining the whole effect.
Pretty pleased with the way it all looks though, everything fits and I don't see myself changing it until I end up moving to Windows 7, even then I may still use the icons though
