Smoke Grenade (Spy class)
Introduce a secondary grenade for the spies currently empty slot

It will allow spies who have been spotted and do not want to engage in a direct fire fight, rather then trying to get away using the cloak (which most often won't work on its own) a smoke grenade will allow you to provide temporary screen that you could use to lure a enemy through, and thus allowing you to...

1. If their are multiple directions, the enemy by the time they move through the screen they will have to guess at which direction you escaped in.

2. Allow to cover your team mates if theres a sniper (doesn't really help all that much though as the screen isn't that big)

3. Allow you to hide in the smoke. As soon as the enemy approaches it, you can move around to his back and try for a stab or simply run off in the way the enemy came (experienced players will usually throw a grenade to make sure the spy isn't in it)

It's uniqueness separates FF from TF2. Everyone's thoughts?

Sounds even more useless than current gas grenades.

Simple smoke screen would be a downplayed version of what was already removed from the game.

1. As you like to put it... an "experienced player" will simply wait for you to leave your screen. They won't enter the area and then guess.

2. If you were to cover a sniper in a smoke screen you would render him useless because he can't see through smoke either. And it would make him more vulnerable by pointing out his location with a big smoke screen.

3. You answered this one yourself. Grenade the smoke and forget about the dead spy who didn't fool you.

And FF is already different from TF2. The spy classes are only remotely similar between those two games.

Going to have to vote "No" on this one.

But they have to enter it in order to chase you, cause they can't see through it. A spy can get away in the opposite direction of the smoke screen... get it?

Or if its a corridor and theres multiple directions (with walls to cover the rest of your escape) it will leave the enemy guessing as to which direction you took and it forces them to enter the smoke screen.

Not useless, just protecting the spy and what ever team mates so they can manuever passed a certain choke point.. snipers already have a unfair advantage that leaves all other classes helpless to them. As long as you stay behind the screen it allows for a temporary maneuver, and adds a interesting dynamic to certain areas in the game.

Grenades will be most likely be nerfed so it won't be enough to kill him, throwing the grenade will still be guess work, you won't know if hes hiding in the smoke or if hes making a getaway... so the time it takes for grenade to explode allows the spy for a get away in time unless you can chase after him (and going into the smoke has its risk of gettng backstabbed so there is a choice to be made). Using a overpowered feature as a reason to not implement a new feature is just plain stupid.

The removal of the gas grenades was provided with the following explanation: It was useless and not at all interactive. You simply tossed it and went about your business. With the fragmentation grenades, you have to be interactive with them. You have to actually 'use' them. This smoke grenade would be akin to the gas grenade — useless. It is entirely situational, would choke older video cards, and would lead to abuse. Grab pack, throw smoke, grab pack, throw smoke.

The smoke would do the opposite of what you suggest, I believe. Here's why: (1) The smoke would be the opposite of 'concealment' on large maps from Snipers. It would practically advertise your position. (2) Likewise, no one would get close to the smoke, because they would be expecting a Spy to be in there waiting. (3) Likewise, they would just throw a grenade in there and knock you out before shotgunning you.

If it were something like a 'warp field' or 'steam' effect that could only be noticed if you focused on it, then you would be working toward something. But, it still would still make little sense as the Spy can remain fully invisible now just by standing still.
