Players should download the lua along with the map when downloading from another server.

If mappers used .res files this wouldn't be a problem. :(

I just tested and the lua does not download even when using a res.

I actually just test this myself and I get the same result. The .lua is not being dl'd from a server even when there is a .res

ye for some odd reason it doesnt, and when u have a folder like materials/models/bleh.somthing it doesnt dls too.

Did you test it on our server doc?
Is sv_allowdownload 1,
is the
mapname.lua in the redirect files,
with the
sv_downloadurl set to the right location,
and is the mapname.lua in the right location to the path set in the mapename.res?

EDIT: I did the test also Doc and no .res. But thats DL from the server I only get the .bsp. nOW WE NEED TO SET UP A FAST dl REDIRECT AND TEST THAT WAY.

tried with a Fast DL server still no .lua.

You server owners having this issue please PM me with who your hosted with.

its not a big issue imo, u just cant play custom maps offline :p

that's a pretty big issue...especially for new players who want to practice and get better w/out being ridiculed for being terrible.

Well how would that work for server that have custom Luas? I used to get custom Luas from Jester and Squeek even sometimes from the beta. So would a custom Lua overwrite the original? Not sure if that would work

Well yes, it would, but that's one of the cases where you wouldn't want to release the Lua. That's why there has to be an option and we can't just hardcode this one way or the other.

People can just delete the custom lua, go to a server running the official version, and redownload :)

It's pretty much the same thing as TFC with modified entities in maps.
