Biggest experiment in the history of physics

And the final question, for a Nobel Prize, what is matter?

zSilver_Fox 08-15-2007 04:46 AM

Saw that on another forum, great to hear that we're building the technology to make advancements in physics.

Yay physics!

Now we need one to collect Dark Matter quicker

zSilver_Fox 08-15-2007 06:17 AM

Well right now, afaik, the properties of dark matter are rather unknown. It's still a lightly supported theory with evidence that points at it, but nothing to really grasp. Almost philosophical, but not to the extent of a supersymmetric based string theory.

Thats an awesome project, I'd been reading about it for the past few years, even caught a special or two on the tele about it.

i saw an interesting Panorama program about it, its on tv links if anyone wants to see it.

if i'd have carried on doing physics this year i would have been going on a trip to see it

SkynYrd 08-15-2007 11:43 PM

*skeet skeet*

I am an astrophysics major... this makes me hard in my nether regions.

Coronius 08-15-2007 11:53 PM

So why is this necessary again? couldnt we use this shit on starving ppl in africa to make the world a better place, then invent this shit?

SkynYrd 08-15-2007 11:56 PM

No.

Coronius 08-16-2007 12:12 AM

Simply impossible to not give a shit about matter and help starving children? Wow thats humane

Not.

luminous 08-16-2007 12:17 AM

i dont think that the countries it would "help" would fancy getting another $8b added to their already massive debt
