To the Community. Would this help you?

A) Get rid of the HIGH MEDIUM LOW and just connect the numbers below the Health Armor Speed.

B) Move the Text Down to leave room for C

C) Remove the "Speed" Bar and put the Other 3 bars ABOVE the class discription.

Since the info is scrollable, it would make sense to put it in there to avoid a lot of clutter. Basically applying both ideas. Great idea though!

This came from the Beta forums, but the thread was outdated. I figured I'd bring it back out to show everyone to see if an idea like this would improve players understanding of the classes. Whatcha think peeps?

I think that'd be a good start for class descriptions at least. When people join a server who've never played a fortress game before, they have absolutely no clue what classes are for what purpose. Adding class descriptions similar to this would give them purpose.

I think if you highlight a weapon or grenade, it should also give a description of each one.

I like this idea, a little more streamlined and easier to choose for newbies. I vote yes. :)

All the class description text needs updating too, cos they are all terrible and overly wordy, and don't tell the new player anything they need to know about each class.

I'm reworking a template in photoshop to make it more streamlined looking.

I'm looking through the different fonts to try to find the Frag Grenade symbol, but I can't seem to locate it anywhere. Anyone know where I can get it? I looked in all the TTF files in FortressForever/resource, but still can't seem to find it.

Any ideas?

Well, till I get that fixed, here's what I came up with so far. The image of the spy isn't really an important part of the class select screen, IMO, so I moved it out of the way for more important info.

Hope u guys like it.8):tranqed:

Kube thats awsome, it would totally benefit the game to add this.
Also, the ff wiki should be accessible from the main menu, or maybe even this class menu. A little button on the bottom right that takes you to that class's wiki page?
This could potentially help newbies stay as well, because information on how to play the game is so easily attainable

 Kube!

The 6'9" BEAST is on to something here! I like it :D! I'm glad I could show you to a little influence :>

This is awesome. THESE are the things that the dev team should work on. The game was just fine in earlier patches, they should focus on making the game appealing to new people without changing the gameplay.

The picture in the OP is from the dev team. This has been planned for too long. :(

I like yours Kube. Seems much easier to implement as well. :)

the only thing that would help me is a good reach-around

punkrockrocks 08-28-2011 01:39 AM

this is what I expected to see when I first played FF. the tiny class selection menu has always felt lame to me. awesome job!
