Brand new.. I hope this game isn't dead
 

I'm a long time Team Fortress (also TF2) and quake player, and I heard that somebody combined quake elements with Team Fortress, and I was instantly interested. I've stared at the server list for the past 10 minutes, and there's just nobody to play with :(
Is it just because it's 4 in the morning, or is it like this all the time?

Not many people play. I'm european , and there's ususally some people playing on saturday noons, and that's about it.
But did you know Team fortress started as a quake mod? Quake world team fortress was the first team fortress game. That's why you see the quake elements you speak of.

Is there any time when people are semi-active?

The game is more active than just Saturday afternoons. The game is most active during evening/night US eastern time. It's not going to be active all the time, but there is usually an active pub game going on in the evenings.

About 4-12pm EST most days you'll find players. We also run pickup games daily, if that's your type of thing.

It's been almost dead since 2008.

It has all already been said -- generally active in the evenings, and most players are from the US, with a handful of Europeans.

If you're fine with a small and tight-knit community that is only active during certain times of the day, then it'll be just fine. If you need people playing 24/7, this game will not suffice, I'm afraid.

I'm probably going to start idling in windowed mode so I can get people to play, because I'm pretty sure the main problem with us EU guys is that we don't even try playing if the server is empty.

I just gotta remember to check it every 10 mins. It'd be way damn easier if I had two monitors, though. D:

Good luck with that, the serverlist stopped working, so people don't really know you're idling unless they have the server in their favourites :/.

Mine still works -- just sometimes fails to load. Though it works more than 50% of the time.

It's back to normal now it would seem.

When I have so much money it would be considered mildly offensive I will pay for a major advertising campaign.

Sometimes I can't even tell when I am being sarcastic.

The internet does things like that to you.
