Got a new error for everyone!

Nevermind.

Got a fix: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cakkzsbq0p...Keep%20me!.rar
^ Note: This will become obsolete once servers are updated.

Delete both SDKs then download that, follow the read me. The reason this occured is because of the Steampipe update. DISABLE AUTOMATIC UPDATES IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY.

Edit: You need an extra step if it isn't workin'. Log off of steam before you delete anything... <-- Tyvm for Juice to finding the next step with his inventive thinking...

If this fails or you can't access the link:
Then you need to uninstall both SDKs. 2006/2007 (and make sure the auto-updates are disabled)
Then install 2007 First.
Once you do that, install 2006, let it dawdle.
Then delete the "cache" once it should remain on the list, and your installation should be rolled back.

Server owners do this:

From now on, servers need to be installed using SteamCMD with appid 205 (Source Dedicated Server).

Once main servers are updated, players will get the same error again. So guys, allow Steam to update your client and you should be fine.

I can't connect to anything :/

Chickenprotector 10-15-2013 09:48 PM

Yeah, tried everything short of reinstalling steam, pretty well fucked.

Working with Moto right now to see if there's a work around server-side. But I have yet to test it.

Edit: Welp that didn't work...

Submitted a ticket with Steam support. See what they say.

I can deal without FF for a short time, but I'm REALLY itchy to play tonight. :(

rdrt 10-15-2013 09:59 PM

Chicken: So you're unable to connect to any servers either?

Since nobody can play now, steam will obviously have to undo what they fucked up. Annoyed though since I have the day off and JUST got my server up and running this AM. Typical.

Chickenprotector 10-15-2013 10:14 PM

Rdrt: Yes. Snipe, Blacknight, and a few of the [o-t]'s can't connect to public servers either. So it's not just an issue on your end.

Also, on part of Valve this seems worthy of my reaction atm:

FF ded ??
Steam Validation Error
Thanx again STEAM ...

Dexter 10-15-2013 11:49 PM

sv_master_legacy_mode makes no difference (server side obv) i take it

Chickenprotector 10-16-2013 01:18 AM

Nope.

I found a fix... I can't believe it was staring me in the face the entire time.

Disable Automatic updates on the Source SDK Base 2006/7.
Delete 2006.
TURN OFF 2006's AUTOMATIC UPDATES.
Re-download 2006. When prompted to convert the cache say no.
Just launch FF and let it diddle. You SHOULD be able to connect to servers now.

Dexter 10-16-2013 01:57 AM

i just let it update. gg

rdrt 10-16-2013 02:02 AM

It doesn't prompt me to convert the cache :/

squeek. 10-16-2013 02:04 AM

Ugh. Chickenprotector, what does the conversion prompt say? Is it trying to convert to Steampipe or whatever?

rdrt 10-16-2013 02:20 AM

I disable the autoupdate and delete 2006. I don't understand the second "TURN OFF 2006's AUTOMATIC UPDATES" When it completes downloading I never get the convert prompt. Would love to figure this fucking bullshit out.

JuiceDD 10-16-2013 02:33 AM

Yeap did that exactly, Still Steam Validation Error
Due to the government shutdown Steam SDK 2006 is taking a furlough !!

Yes. I'm in the process of uploading shit that'll just simplify things. I'll keep it tuned.

Like I said, I'm in the midst of gathering all the fuckin' GCFs needed by the fripping program. Once you follow the readme, it should just be a matter of trying to launch FF and letting it dawdle.

I'll post a Dropbox link when it's available.

rdrt 10-16-2013 02:59 AM

Chicken can you elaborate a little more about how you got it working again? I've been trying multiple times and I'm having no luck getting that prompt. It seems like despite disabling automatic updates and then deleting 2006 when it downloads again it will download the latest version.

Chickenprotector 10-16-2013 03:01 AM

By some miracle I still had my old files. The game is lacking the default GCF files it needed prior to the upgrade to steam pipe. Once I deleted it (and kept 2007) I was able to tell it to screw off and launch FF and then connect to a server.

Just give it time, I'm uploading the GCFs needed to Dropbox as I type this. So it should be as simple as telling FF to install the 2006 and telling the Steampipe prompt to go away.

Here's how the Steampipe update works: It takes the GCF files inside of your Steamapps folder and converts them into .VPKs which it then moves to the Common folder. In doing so it breaks the fuckin' game.

FYI: When this gets done, DO NOT launch from the server browser on Steam itself, launch your client from the library, friends, or w/e THEN connect to a server (you won't get a prompt then).

It's got another ETA of about 15 minutes. I'm going to go hop in the shower for now. Once it's done I'll post a link.

Chickenprotector 10-16-2013 03:28 AM

Annd done. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gvp1xttqu0...ep%20me%21.rar Delete both SDKs and follow the instructions in the readme. If all else fails, I can't help you.

rdrt 10-16-2013 03:29 AM

Thanks a lot man!

Chickenprotector 10-16-2013 03:44 AM

Could a Mod, Admin, or whoever sticky this in the mean time so people can get the fix they need... I'd appreciate it.
