Need tech opinion about an auto-ban
 

Hello FF users & supporters.
When I first tried FF on my PC (back in 2009) it happened a strange thing: I got banned from an old-timers' server even before entering it!

When it happened i thought it was a temporary mistake (it said I used "sv_gravity set to 600"), so I tried rejoining the server and, again, the same message error. Since I found no other good servers at that time, I just stopped playing FF, and I removed it.

Some months ago, however, I got the impulse to reinstall FF and play it, and with my very pleasure I found a few other servers, in which I played well and had a lot of fun.

But then I remembered about that ban thing: I tried in every manner to talk with some of the o-t admins, but since I am banned from the server, I am banned even on the forums, so I am asking here about an expert opinion on what could have generated this strange thing: I remember i was using an older version of FF than the then-current one, so I supposed that it was the reason, but in o-t they said they don't ban for that reason.

I am looking forward to seeing some interesting replies and I hope you will help me understand the whole thing.

Give up! Don't spend any more time thinking about it and live your life happy!

If they've got you banned from the forums then I don't know...

What's your SteamID? I'll look at their ban log for you.

nope.. there's usually solid reasons for their bans. But yeah, I can't help you dude. No clue.

Play on the Talos server instead. Feel free to name yourself 'niggertits' too.

Its impossible to refute an OT ban. Just play in the talos server.

you know, I don't like OT or anything but 99% of the time someone complains about being banned for no reason, its because they actually said something like 'niggertits' lol

From proof given by Scuzzy on these forums in the past I'm much more inclined to say there are reasons for their bans.

Usually by people not adhering to their strict rules as dexter said - but rules are rules :P

Wow, I'm kind of shocked to see a couple of devs actually defending OT for once.

It would be nice if they stood up more and cut off the lies before they spread more.


Also I hear Talos has been starting bring in rules too and banning people because of them. I don't know if thats true, but I hear one of the rules is no racist stuff. If thats true, then thats a good step in the right direct for the community.



Also as far as I know if you are banned on the server you are not banned in the forums. Unless of course you did something to get banned for on the forums too.

Also, he wasn't banned for racism. The log said no such thing.
