>> Whoop Whoop. Right devs lets get things moving << Yeah, OK!

tf2 is having to much limelight. I am not saying what is better and what is not. I just want ff active again.
I know we have tried before hand. So devs, come on start doing something and I am sure whats left of the community will try and help.

Maybe spend 2 more weeks creating something different.

Like bring the teleporter back.. or add something different. it can't be that hard to think of something. I am sure the community would help.

Marketing wise.
Things I would do -
(remember this is only ideas, these might be hard to accomplish)

-get your Google Rank up. Not just fortress forever. new keywords so a wider search. multiplayer ... capture the flag ... blah blah blah...

- Write to computer magazines saying your new and fresh and so forth..

- Start asking clans to put your site in there irc or websites.

-use youtube of videos and stuff ( someone else said this, great idea btw )

-Go on big gaming websites and telling them about your new mod. gamesdomain
megagames

-or even get a survey done and get feedback at what they think.
trick :: When doing this survey, put at the bottom. "Would you like to recommend this game to friends or family". Once down put an e-mail function so hey can do this. People look at it and they might go download it. If you don't try you don't get.

-use this steam community friends feature thing ...

There is loads of possibility's out there.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like FF and I like TF2. Tho FF is my fav. it's more tfc. Tho everyone is different. The fact is alot of people might disagree, but it's not all about amazing graphics. I have always based it on gameplay. yes ff lacks a lil, but the devs have to pick this up and think whats going wrong.

Devs, in the nicest possible way. Things is not gonna just fall in your lap. It's not going to brighten up. Your gonna have to take it in your own hands and figure this out some how. You built a good mod now your leaving it 2 rot. Don't do this. as my old man says. MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF. ;)

Anyways Great game guys. Loving your work

from Extigy.

p.s) sorry about grammar, just woke up and can't be f*cked. :D

Mad_Clog 11-08-2007 09:19 AM

What makes you say they're leaving it to rot?
From what i gathered they're already working on a new patch, I'd hardly call that leaving it to rot...

I agree with your "marketing wise"... But i dont agree that Dev Team isn't doing a great job. they are doing a tremendous job, and are not still.

Good constructive post :D

Aint gonna happen dude. This is a free pc game without a console equivalent. All free pc mods go through this (no you cant count CS, because that's not free any more). Eternal Silence won a ton of awards and was definitely a different game, but that game has been dead for almost 6 months now. Goldeneye Source started off with a huge bang too. I ran a server for that game for 6 months and always had players. Now I'm lucky if I can get 2 players on per day in that game because it's dead as dirt now too. Half Life 2 DM Pro is far better than the original half life 2 dm in that is gave users and servers more options and you can run really fast, but that game is dead. Half Life 2 CTF is well put together game too, but it's completely dead.

My point is, doing something different isn't going to fix this game when there are so many games out there now competing for a few thousand pc users that don't play CS.

What would have been a dream combo though is that FF got bundled with TF2. Now that would have helped big time. Hell, I would have even bought TF2 just to get FF. (No, I still have not bought TF2 and have not even played it).

As far as teleporters, mappers can put teles on their maps very easily. I've put them on the 2 maps I've made for this game. Engies don't have to make them. You can even get the old teleporter from tfc and put it into your map just covering it in the tele trigger texture. There are several sprites that can be used by mappers to make it look just like the old tfc tele. I've even set it up on on the Avanti map to where just the hwguy and and solly are only allowed to use the tele. So teles are possible, but they're not gonna bring players back to this game.

Anyway, I've never seen a game die as fast as this one. I'm so shocked because it is the most complete FREE game I have ever seen and I've been online since 1997 with fps games. This dev team put out the most complete and flawless mod that I have ever seen put out. But I knew the end times were going to come eventually, which is why I only bought a 10 slot server and made small, one-cap maps. As the players number dwindle even further, having smaller, one cap maps is going to be even more important.

I have mentioned this before,

When will you retards get that it just isn't very popular; to me the reasons are unknown because I haven't played it. Remember it is just an unofficial mod you douches. Almost every Fucker that's familiar with Team Fortress knows about FF. In those spammy chatty servers people often bang on about FF,TF2 in TFC. See how many have registered to the fourms alone. 3019.

We got ourselves a scholar! Harvard? Princeton? Yale? Dare I say . . . . MIT?

Lack of communication from the Devs to the community is probably responsible for a lot of people thinking the game is being left to die. Dev journals are a good thing to have and probably only takes about half an hour to write.

pF 11-08-2007 04:03 PM

^Agreed. The people responsible for the Insurgency mod have even appointed someone to take care of press releases (for their own community and PC gamers in general).

Example Link

I think this should definitely be considered by the dev team.

But the Insurgency Mod seems to have fewer than 300 regulars, which I suppose is pretty good considering the game has been out a year now. Or has it been out longer? I remember people talking about it at the end of 2006, but I've not looked at since then.

Not so sure you can use a game like Insurgency as a comparison to FF though.

Insurgency has been out for 4 months.

Wow, they've been posting on their forum since mid-2006. Well then, less than 300 regulars at 4 months . . . let's see what it's doing in another 6? I bet it ends up like Goldeneye Source that I mentioned in the above post.

EngeeMan 11-09-2007 02:54 PM

Note that Lost Planet and The Ship listed here are both for-pay games available for purchase on Steam that both have gotten full-update pane ads a few times between them. The Ship, additionally, had at least 1 free-play weekend.

lol, ricochet had more people playing then. Granted this was probably taken during the day and not during peak time.
