Fortress Forever On Xbox360 at 60fps?

Some of you guys may know how smooth COD runs on the 360, well what if Fortress Forever was on the 360 running at 60 fps? That would be sick! I'd buy it! 8)

I can't even imagine trying to play FF on a console controller.

PC Fitness 05-11-2010 07:42 PM

Not me, I'd love it!

I'm actually pretty good at 360 first person shooters. It gives me some time away from the PC. Specifically my eyes and back, lol.

Concing, priming nades, air control, bunnyhopping, and shooting super fast targets? Which console FPS games have those?

Besides the fact FF was supposed to always be free.

Yeah, it's obviously not going to happen, but just thinking about trying to hit rockets and play O with a console controller has my mind boggled.

This guy obviously doesn't do any of that in FF, or he'd understand there'd be no way possible to play a game like FF on a console controller.

One of the reasons TF2 came out the way it did, more money in trying to sell to a different market by removing everything in the game that takes a mouse and keyboard. (ie: all the cool fun stuff)

PC Fitness 05-11-2010 08:40 PM

What do you mean, this guy? I'm a legend, in my own mind, lol. I've been playing TFC since the day it was released, then FF and I still can't rocket jump or conc. Just kidding!

Seriously, I just thought it would be pretty cool. I wonder if it would be a nightmare to code FF to hit 60fps as well as bind all the keys to the controller. I think it could work, especially if it sold for $59.99, doh!

Why not just plug a controller in, dl some software to make the left analog stick work in game and then play it like that..

Pixel 05-11-2010 09:50 PM

Impossible to play with a 360 controller

Elmo 05-11-2010 10:03 PM

because you cant use the controller with FF or because it's too hard?

We could just use auto-aim or aim-assist for console like every other First Person Shooter, then have console gamers talk about how easy it is to play FPS games on console and how they'd dominate PC players if given the chance.

Good luck hitting a rocket or blue pipe with autoaim. Or a railgun bounce shot.

Bridget 05-11-2010 10:24 PM

Don't worry, it will do the proper calculations to lead targets and hit them every time. There will be a huge threshold for skill in FF360.

Controller issue aside, it would never happen. Xbox is a locked down platform and it would require a substantial fee to get any game on there. Since FF is a direct mod from the Source engine, that means licensing required on the part of Valve. Assuming they were fine with just a bundle of cash and didn't oppose it on intellectual property grounds, I guess you could actually get the game on Xbox 360, knowing it would flop because TF2 appeals more to that crowd + FF does not crossover well to a controller.

So yeah, it would take a lot of money for licensing fees AND Valve's approval for a game that would almost certainly flop. I mean look at the playerbase now and it's being given away for free!

Realistically it would mean Valve buying the rights to the game and porting it to 360. The problem with that is, nobody actually owns FF. Who would they pay?

We could incorporate Paypal merchant services directly through this site. After the payment of $59.99 is received www.fortress-forever.com would then send the buyer a burnt dvd "all legit of course" and before we know it, everyone on XBL will be hooked. Oh, let's not forget mIRC! How in the world would we do that?...

KubeDawg 05-12-2010 01:13 AM

Isn't TF2 also for Xbox 360?

No doubt a crap ton of stuff would need to be altered/removed though. It wouldn't be the same, that's for sure.

s0undch4s3r 05-14-2010 02:35 PM

I played TF2 once on the PS3. It was the most horrible thing. FPS on a console
is without a doubt the worst. Using the joystick for FPS is like driving a car blind folded. You will get owned.
