i want a plain door with a window like in the below picture, i'll try my hand at texturing it, or you can doesnt matter, but if you do then i'd like for it to be kinda rusted but not to much.

Static, or animated? What dimensions? Need any hardware on it?

GambiT 05-12-2008 06:15 PM

static

no hardware or animations(if i parent it to move it'll be the kinda door that slides into the wall or up actually)

it will be for show, but i want y'all to see through the window(to add more depth to the map.

um...i'll have to get with you on measurements or you can make it the same as the door models with HL2.

thanks!

Here's what I got:

Pretty basic. Just a little bevel around the window. It's all UV mapped and ready to go if you want it.

um..theres no link or anything.

by the way thanks! i actually just finished working on rock2 some more.

So what you're saying is... you want it?

I don't want to be accused of delaying work on this map ;)

Why use model? And not just some brushwork?

Ihmhi 05-19-2008 09:45 AM

One model would be cheaper to render than all the brushwork necessary to make that doorway. That and it would probably reduce the filesize a little bit, too.

GambiT 05-19-2008 11:19 AM

it'd actually be cheaper to do it with brushwork(and func_detail it), and using a custom model will make the file size bigger.

models look better, sooo, yea thats why.

Crazycarl 05-19-2008 05:48 PM

You can't make any details smaller than 1 unit with brushes. Using models saves on brushes and planes if you're running up against those limits. If you use multiple copies of the same object it does reduce file size.
