Player attitudes
 

Now don't get me wrong, there's a lot of cool people playing Fortress, but I am wondering if anybody else has noticed this...

There seem to be a lot of, for lack of a better term, faggots playing. There's no one particular behaviour I can nail down as being emblematic of a faggot, but I know one when I see one. The gist of it is that they don't seem to be playing for fun, or for points, but just to run around gibbing people however they can.

So am I the only one who thinks this?

And this is nothing compared to the TF2 crowd, and I thank my lucky stars every day that I've got a better alternative to that.

Agreed, what do you think would help decrease the amount of "faggotry" in fortress-forever?

The other day an admin kicked someone 'for being a faggot' so there's definitely hope.

I don't want to start votekicking people just for their play style...

I guess venting is about the best option we have.

I feel he's talking about people who are just being dicks and not actually "playing the game" for enjoyment. The people who are on any server of any game to cause annoyance. Like some people who go on and just sit there playing music over comms until muted or kicked.

And there are some who do actually "play the game" but just want to be dicks to others while doing it. Whatever you think Bridget, I don't think its good for this game to have those people about.

By the way, I have a story to tell about a player called Daniel, who has admin powers on a server. Before I do, please tell me if I would be stepping on any toes by doing so. I do not wish to have powerful enemies.

Most of the community is tight knit. And most of the people who regularly play on FF servers are part of this community. And most of the people who do act like faggots a lot of the time are made fun of for having such a shitty life where all they do is act like a dick to everyone. These people will always exist, however, they usually have a quick turn around rate due to permabanning on both the servers as well as forums. This is not some E rated game where these x box live kids can come in and try to treat everyone like a piece of shit. The community will be better off without those people, and as such, most of the admins in power, either here or out in their own servers have the common sense to get rid of these people.

I honestly don't see a whole lot of problems with FF servers... occasionally people like to grieve, but its not that common. The problem I see the most is admins who can't hold back on banning over words or kicking people who kill them repeatedly.. I think I was kicked by "Rarh" several times for back stabbing him with spy.

I can understand if someone needs to be banned for spamming, arguing excessively over text chat or mic. Debates and discussions do happen, but when they get out of order that is when people should be banned... people really should not be banned for saying "jesus christ that motherfucker keeps killing me." After all, we are playing a military game with gore, if you joined the actual military you would have a drill sergeant right behind you with his hand firmly on your shoulder, screaming into your ear "you are a faggot", "your mother is a slut, and she bred a worthless piece of shit"

It's also legal for US soldiers to bang 13-17 year old girls off base in other countries...

I have noticed, that when our server is rockin, and at least half full, player attitudes are not a problem.

The game is moving so fast, you dont have time to read some text spam, and voice spam is nill when both teams are talking and calling positons.

Tell you the truth, I have never had a bad experiance on our server, especially once its half full. The action just picks up.

I dont understand the problem. It cant be that hard to find a regular server, that is not run by asshat thundercunts.

I really dont understand why any admins would be dicks, this game is not overflowing with players. NOW, disruptive game play is one thing.

Mic spamming, and text spamming, is another, and should not even be brought up. You can mute people. I still dont understand the point of this thread.

Even when I use to pop in on any server that had one or two guys in it, I have never run across a bad admin. I would suggest you find some better servers.

There are better servers out there than the ones giving you problems. Its not possible this is really a problem.

To be honest, I have never had another male player come onto me while I was playing. And then add that to the p0rn sprays that were a problem at one time.

I dont think there are a lot of faggots playing FF. They seem to be pretty straight to me. A lot of them talk about their girlfriends, and some have even posted pictures of them selves with their girlfriend here in the FF forums.

But if a male player ever starts asking me for my address or phone number, and if he can come over and visit - I will be sure to post the faggots name here.

Basically, a few days ago, Daniel loved to snipe on Aardvark. So much so that anyone who hampered his sniping got threatened with a boot.

Specifically, he said anyone spamming with grenades would get kicked. Fair enough.

The thing was, I was a scout, just hanging out on the sniping platform giving him a hard time. He's sniped me a good dozen or so times before I finally decided to prioritize him over the flag. After I killed him once I left to go for the flag. But before I got there I was booted.

But that was just one incident. I'm sure I could have handled it better so I do not wish to register a formal complaint. I was pretty steamed at the time though.
