vBulletin & Facebook
Hey Guys,
I need some help here. So for the company I work for, we are getting complains on how we are more active on Facebook than our Forums. With that said, we run vBulletin® Version 3.6.8 and we would like to have a new thread posted every time we publish on our Facebook Page. (Similar to how you guys have it here for Twitter). I been looking everywhere and no luck, so I figured since you guys have one set up here, I can get some guidance. I appreciate the help here. |
The one here is very hackily done. It just polls the FF Twitter RSS feed for any changes every x minutes and then, if a new tweet is found, it manually inserts the necessary information into the vB database (adds a post, updates the thread and forum).
Not sure the same can be done for Faceback. I'd look at vbulletin.org to see if any plugins exist that do what you want. |
Ah okay thank you for the insight.
I was able to pull the RSS link for Fortress-Forever. https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page....6&format=rss20 Using this trick here. http://www.jasdhaliwal.com/facebook/...facebook-page/ This means, it might work the same way, but at the same time it might not due to Facebook trying to force you to logging. I will pass this along to our tech and see what he thinks. As for vbulletin.org, yeah no luck there. |
You can do a facebook app that does this, you can insert it directly into vBulletin's DB.

Well, a bit more than that, but that's the basics of it. That being said, depending on who your core members are, they may not like forums, and prefer facebook over it, in that case, you can't do much to force them over, but you can make it easier. Do check out vBulletin Connect; it has the ability to let users use facebook and your forums. |
Thank You Ricey, I will pass this along and see what we can come up with.
As of right now we have users that do not like Facebook, and are using our forums for their source of information. We been more active on Facebook than our forums, and instead of posting in two sections, we just wanted to post on Facebook, then it shows up on the forums. |
