Rotate the beta testers!

Here's an awesome idea! Rotate out the current beta testers w/ new testers. New testers = fresh eyes. Also, it'll deflate a few heads I believe! Thanks in advance!

Circuitous 05-31-2007 12:32 AM

Better plan: just add more!

...

Seriously! Add more!

Beetle 05-31-2007 12:41 AM

I'd personally like to vote myself. Second anyone?

Circuitous 05-31-2007 12:43 AM

Seconded.

[AE] 82694 05-31-2007 12:46 AM

To the DEV's, I would donate cash to be a beta tester. Fuck that voting democracy bullshit.

[AE] 5316 *TKZ* 05-31-2007 12:47 AM

Yea, Ill let zip donate cash for me to beta test too. Just take it outta what your mom owes me..

heres a better idea...just release the game.

MrPhoenix 05-31-2007 01:14 AM

How about an open beta?

Bean 05-31-2007 01:22 AM

Like I said back when they added all of you "new" testers, that was likely to be around the high point as far as activity went. I'd be willing to bet that a few of the people that were added in the last batch aren't very active anymore (although I think there's a good amount that are). I still check the FF servers all the time and it's empty most of the day. If you want people playing more regularly, 30-40 (that's how many I estimate are beta testers at least) aren't enough.

It was probably a good idea then, and still a good idea now, to add more testers if the level of activity desired was more than that. However, I realize the problem is more that there aren't enough active devs, not that there aren't enough beta testers, but whenever there's an infusion of new people, there is usually a corresponding pickup in interest from whatever devs there are. I realize that it's hard to find people you trust, but adding a bigger batch might do wonders as far as getting the entire team excited. My guess at a magic number would be around 30 more (maybe more)?

Circuitous 05-31-2007 01:35 AM

30-40?

More like 300.

[AE] 5316 *TKZ* 05-31-2007 01:39 AM

do they dine in hell?

Johnny Mullet 05-31-2007 02:26 AM

Actually, a fresh set of eyes would be great!
I would take 8 new beta testers who know nothing about "Fortress" and let them have at it! Let's see what the viewpoint from a n00b on Fortress Forever is

Jesus666 05-31-2007 02:26 AM

There are almost 70 or so, so you got your magic number. Let them do their jobs. You don't have to connect to a game server to test software, I'm sure they're doing most of the testing on their own machines.

Circuitous 05-31-2007 02:39 AM

...actually, we can't make listen servers...

Devs can, but not testers.
