stupid moderators, if not valve directly

Yeah, I'm not sure what happened to those posts. We haven't heard anything from Valve, so it could just be a moderator playing it safe.

wait, so valve deleted the post containing FF as a source mod??

I don't think we should jump to that conclusion. It was more likely one of the steam forum moderators who aren't employed by Valve.

vindictive moderators

It's always the same with forums of large organizations, the mods dont have a fucking clue what they are doing. You certainly can't take it as a true guide to what valve actually think.

Its much easier and far more entertaining to jump to conclusions.

It would be pretty funny if it was Valve that trimmed the FF posts and links. They ignore the TFC community for years, and when people finally band together to do something about it, they disallow discussion of the resulting TF mod on their forums.

Even though that probably isn't the case, if Valve did pass down the word, you guys should be flattered. You've made Newell and the gang a little nervous.

Yea , i'd be pretty suprise if it was Valve's censorship. They're usually pro-gamer.

I don't get it. Is Valve making TF:S secretly and doesn't want any kind of competition, or what?

If anything Valve has TFC:S. Which isn't TFC on the source engine but a direct port. I doubt they'll release that. Anything they release that isn't TF2, will get alot of the fan base pissed off, or people will just start laughing at them again. I'm thinking Valve is just sitting around waiting on the community to make something good. Then they will offer to buy it, if you refuse, "Oh you're breaking copyright by the way".

the mod being bought by valve, although contarary to popular belief would be the best thing possible. this means direct downloads and updates through steam. But, new information was released recently by Gabey! in an interview off a popular Hl2 spanish site. He said that theyre really close to mods being in the My Games list so that means easy updates for everyone i believe! Woot!

But Valve screwed TFC up. This mod's goal is to give a TF experience that Valve was unable to do. A mod that has been out as long as TFC has should be running near perfect. But it isn't anywhere near perfect.

hey they have families to feed and they arnt going to make much money keeping a game with a population as small as tfc updated as much as a game that has kept them alive (cs). not that an occasional update wouldnt be too bad but in reality these people have the choice of catering to hundreds of thousands or a few thousand.

CS was made by Valve Employees btw. They didn't get bought or kinda.
DoD got bought
and so did that Single player thing that sucked.

Some moderator or whomever on the steampowered forums is editing posts (like pizzahut's) and removing threads dedicated to FortressForever. FF staff had noticed it happening a couple of weeks back, too... it just keeps happening.

Cute, huh...

I had replied to mr. alligator on this post:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=202302&perpage=40&highlight=fortress%20forever&pagenumber=2

correcting the URL, and my post no longer appears. rebo had come in the next day to point him in the right direction. hehe. it's kind of funny!

I'd rather not speculate. It's slightly irritating but they (whoever 'they' is) may have their reasons. Either way, I'd rather you guys don't kick up a stink or a fuss over it. Doing so would most likely just cause problems for us more than anything :)

CS was originally made by Gooseman. Valve bought it years later.

No Counter-Strike wasn't made by Valve. It was made by a few guys who just wanted to make a mod. Valve later seen promise in the mod, bought it from them, and employed them. Thus CS 1.0 was born. Thats the short story anyway.

Yea carwash it was a direct link , but then some mysterious person edited his post to remove all links. Pizzahut then edited the links back in. There was also another maplist thread and thats completely removed

Talk about petty. The only reason I can see for them doing it is that they are indeed making tfc: source themselves.

Not all related links were removed. The mod changed it like this:
TFC conversions:
thecatacombs (http://forums.thecatacombs.net/forumdisplay.php?f=124), f2c 1 (http://forums.far2cool.com/topic.aspx?PID=768351) 2 (http://forums.far2cool.com/topic.aspx?PID=784758))

Just an update on this situation, there has been no explaination by the mods from that forum. And a further 3 threads have been removed plus continued editing of pizzahuts mod thread.

It appears anything to do with FF is not welcome at that forum and im afraid we will just have to accept that. We can make FF popular in otherways and im sure if you guys work hard at making this an interesting forum people will continue to come.

Indeed this is strange, Valve always encourage modifications no matter what. If Valve have not contacted any member of FF then it is right to assume Valve would encourage the modification, rather than try and take any sort of petty legal action they can.

On the topic of buying modifications, no statement from Valve and the moderators acting "unusual" leads be to the conclusion Valve could be considering purchasing FF as TFC:S. Its nice to have money in your pocket, and honestly I'd probably sell up and "join valve", although, I'd rather not see this modification head that way. Remember, this is all speculation.
