Anyone remember this map ???? It was called 4fort4
Basically 4 teams in 4 (2fort4) bases
all on one map
I thinks thats the best I can describe it
this map orginally came out for tf before qwtf
If anyone remembers it
I think that would be an excellent map to port over to FF
congratulations your as old as me ;) and has played many classics
P.S. I'm 23

There was a thread about 4fort4 a couple of days ago (try the Search feature).

You can download the QWTF map here:

This type of gameplay would be hard to pull off unless you had a very full server (28+) or made the bases very small, like murderball.

If your forums are any consolation, I dont think youll have trouble filling 28 slots on a server, the question will be who can afford the bandwidth. =)

My map idea was slightly different though. Either way a 4fort should be made . Most pub servers anymore are big enough to have alteast 4 per team.

I played 4fort4 a few times, back in the day.

Does anyone remember a map called town4? It was pretty popular in Finland. It was a big town with three teams. I think two of them were criminals, trying to destroy the base of the other team, and the third team was cops, trying to steal a suitcase from either team. It had a lot of rooftops, elevators and alleyways. A spy's dream. The map was set at night, but the time of the day changed at some point during play (it was either triggered by something, or just time-delayed), making the level very bright.

Other maps worth remembering: 32smooth and 2tech4 (http://www.planetfortress.com/jmcstfmapzone/2tech4.htm) (was very popular here).

I loved playing 4fort4 back in the day. The only problem I remember is that not too many people seemed to like the map back then, and hence it very rarely got played.

The way you describe it, I think you are actually talking about town2.

I had a top notch route for getting the money (suitcase?) from the blue team. At any rate, it was a real blast. Here's the links to download them (you can view the readme on these pages):

Town2:

Town4:

Someone (that's his name), the author of 2tech4 among other popular QWTF maps had mentioned making a conversion, but he unfortunately disappeared. Gemini, the longtime TFL admin, made a conversion for TFC, but unfortunately, it never played very well:

No one had any real objective in that map. It was pretty much just a run into whatever base you felt like and screw around type of map.

I understand 4f4 was rarley played
But think about it now
today we can handle over 60 some odd players in a server now
back then tha average was 32 and I dont remember any servers even getting that many dead on everytime

And even if they servers did fill up it was because everyone was too busy playing the 1 map that outlasted them all 2fort4 ;)

Im game for anything to spice up the same rotation of maps. I work 2nd shift so I dont have the "prime time" hours to get serious in a clan, and my son is awake at that time on the weekends, therefore It could be fun to do on a pub thats packed. All that can go wrong is people play it, dont like it and ask to have it removed. Why not at least give something a chance?

It's sad when a mapper disappears... I wonder where they all go?

I just happened to be reminded of this map today and did a search for it and got sent to this site.

Its good to read some players still remember my map and of course at the time it was too bright, laggy, horrid textures but it was played 1000's of times on various servers around the world. The emails I got about it ranged from good to well i've leave that to your imagination.. :)

I see some one had a go at remaking it, but to be honest its not worth it... Its had its day....

TF ruled, and those two Ozzies who created it, were so awesome to other map makers like myself they went on to working for Valve it think doing Half-life and earnt a fortune for their work and full credit should go to them.

lol..i remember that, mustve been 6 years ago now :O, It wasn't cancelled as such, cos i remember we had some games on it. I just dont think they could get a 32 player server, so it ended up bein some stripped down 4v4v4v4 version i think.
