Hey everyone I'm new to the forums, but a lot of people are experiencing lag with their keyboard while in any game. When you are moving with your keyboard keys and try to move your mouse to look at the same time, your key input will lockup causing you to keep moving without being able to regain control for several seconds. Unfortunately, I don't know if there is any windows hotfix for this issue, but I did some fiddling around and came up with a solution. This will have to be done every time for each game, each time you start it. Follow these steps and you'll be able to play without the lockups. Kudos to "dodger29" in FF for suggesting I should post this tutorial.

After loading the game, perform the following steps:

1.) Press Alt+Tab to switch out of the game to the desktop.

2.) Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the task manager.

3.) Click on the "Processes" tab.

4.) Right-click on the executable of the game you are currently playing (In this case being the game is "Fortress Forever", right-click on "hl2.exe".

5.) Roll over "Set Priority" and click on "BelowNormal".

6.) Press Alt+Tab to return to the game.

7.) Enjoy your lag-free keyboard for a much more fun experience!

Hope this helps!

Please Sticky This Mods!! This will help a lot of people!!!!

There's a command (-high) that you can put in your launch options to always launch at high priority (I've not actually tested it myself, but I assume it works), so if you can find what the belownormal one is (perhaps just -belownormal) that might stop you from needing to do it every time.

Well to put "-high" in the parameters would be running it at High CPU priority. The whole reason for the keyboard issue is that the CPU is dedicating itself to the game entirely first before addressing anything else such as your Keyboard, mouse and other peripherals. When you set the Priority to "BelowNormal" windows is taking the game down one step below everything else meaning the CPU will process and translate all of your keyboard and mouse functions first and put them into the game rather than the opposite. So I think that setting the game to High priority will just make the issue worse.

Well I apologized either way. Either it can be accepted or we can continue to draw this out if you wish. Are you going to accept this tip as it is or keep ragging me for making a mistake?
